Great bean storage I ever had!
This canister is SO EASY TO USE and best of all – IT WORKS! I really love that it uses a vacuum to suck all the air out and it automatically will regulate the pressure. I guess that’s what makes it a “smart” canister?I really appreciate only having to deal with one push button, having simple light indicators, and that it’s rechargeable with the USB cable that it came with. I don’t have that much patience to learn a complicated appliance so the simpler, the better.Highly recommend!

*Update* The company responded very promptly! Ali has been amazing to work with and is sending a replacement . This is a business that definitely offers great customer service. I am hopeful that my replacement works great and keeps the charge. It is a perfect addition for someone who has arthritis in there hands. Plug in and go.We purchased two sets of these canisters for our coffee beans. Each time only one canister kept a seal and would show a red light( needing daily charge and still not working). I really like the concept and the ease but it it so frustrating to not have it work as it should or even at all.We tried to get a hold of someone at the company and of course when you go to contact us,there is nothing, finally found an email address. If it worked it would be a great addition and I would tell everyone.

The product is made well, charges up quickly, the instructions are decent. Itâs relatively small, will only hold a small amount, looks decent, and you press the button on the lid, and it lights up and again appears to be doing something. I took off a star since I donât know how effective it is at what it does, and I have no way of testing it. Otherwise it works as intended.

A little bit of science goes into preserving coffee naturally. There are four primary factors that can impact the freshness of coffee beans: oxidization, moisture, sunlight, and temperature. This vacuum container aims to solve at least one of these factors by drawing out excess air carrying oxygen. Coffee beans on their own will continue to degas and surround themselves with carbon dioxide when at rest, which will also settle towards the bottom of the jar as it is a heavier gas, pushing oxygen to rest at the top. Carbon dioxide is a much-preferred gas to surround foods with compared to oxygen, as it is very inert and will not react with other carbon containing molecules it comes in contact with like oxygen does. So, when used, this vacuum mechanism should help expel excess potential harmful oxygen resting towards the top of the jar and preserve foods longer than a non-vacuum sealed jar.This jar also helps prevent a second common factor of stale beans, moisture. Due to being fully sealed, as long as the beans themselves are kept dry, additional moisture should not be able to get back in. This jar however does not really offer much protection against temperature, sunlight, or constant light exposure since it is clear non-insulated glass, so I keep this jar stowed away in a cabinet in a climate-controlled room until ready to use. Mainly with light, the wavelength to really avoid when it comes to food freshness is ultra-violet light which can deteriorate the quality of coffee very quickly much like oxygen can.So overall this is a well-made product. The vacuum mechanism works reliably by pressing down on a button at the top of the lid. This causes the button to lock into place and the vacuum motor engages until a certain vacuum level is reached, then it automatically turns the motor off. After about 5 days I checked on the beans I had placed in this jar and disengaged the button by pressing on it again. I could hear an audible “hiss” as the vacuum was released. Very reassuring!The battery powered motorized pump operation is also fairly quiet. It is something that can be engaged as the jar is being stowed away. It typically takes about 10 seconds for the jar to reach the vacuum threshold. The lid’s battery can be recharged via a USB cable when it runs low or starts to slow down. The glass this jar is made of feels durable and is borosilicate glass which is the same kind of glass used for cookware. Due to being borosilicate, it should have good temperature resistance, which is not really necessary for storing coffee beans, but can hold up well in a dishwasher in between uses or on the hot water and drying cycles.I am happy with this product and recommend it for anyone looking for an alternative to manual pump canisters or squeezing bags the coffee comes in after each use. It does introduce a light exposure risk compared to just keeping coffee in its bag which can easily be worked around by making sure the jar is stored away in a cabinet or light blocking container. If this was a metal jar or anti-UV treated jar, it would be even better. But given this works exactly as described and my coffee beans are still smelling very fresh after a week of use, this has earned a solid 5/5 for me.

Dont buy, 2 canisters and they both fail
I have gone through 2 of these and after about a month it constantly will run which is pretty annoying. Cleaning the lid carefully and charging it doesnât matter. A complete waste of money in the end.

Not impressed at all
I had high hopes for the smart cannister. We’ve recently have ditched kcups for whole bean coffee and thought a good vacuum cannister would keep the beans fresh or if we wanted to grind a bag, keep the ground coffee fresh. This cannister worked so well in the first week, I ordered another. Unfortunately it didn’t last. It started losing the vacuum seal within a couple of weeks and then began needing a charge everyday. I ended up sending both back. For the price I was really hoping for better quality. One plus is the size and that’s it clear so you can see. Appearance is fine, no issues there and I liked that it was glass and not plastic.

**update** I thought I should update since I see some others are mentioning issues after they’ve had it awhile. I’ve been using mine for MONTHS without any issues. It turns on for a couple seconds a couple times a day. I’ve only had to charge it once and it’s still going strong months later. Others said they can’t tell if it’s working… All you have to do is to press the button to release the suction and you know it’s working–you can faintly hear the air woosh back into the canister. Awesome product!I’ve tried a couple manual vacuum seal containers for my whole bean coffee, and it seems like the seal always lasts for less than 24 hrs and I have to pump the button a few more times every morning.Having a device like this that senses the lack of suction and automatically adjusts throughout the day is an amazing idea! Keeps my coffee nice and fresh and looks nice doing it.

I love coffee and did not realize you could purchase something like this, but what a cool idea. There is a huge difference between grinding fresh coffee beans to coffee that is already ground. This super cool canister allows you to store your beans even better with an automatic vacuum seal…amazing. Great quality, perfect size easily holds a small bag of beans. Great unique gift idea for a coffee lover. Very happy with this purchase!
