Good product despite knucklehead
These grinders are as you would expect for the price. They are not “hefty,” but not flimsy by any means. Look good and work well. I personally use them for spiced salts.But onto the knocked star. QC. I ordered a set and they arrived in a timely manner. The box they were in was wrapped in bubble wrap. Open the box, and the two grinders had their own bubble wrap sleeves. Clearly they want these things to arrive without damage. I unscrew the top of one, and there’s a significant chip, but there’s no remnant of the chip in the packaging. Odd. That means someone screwed the top on, didn’t see a very obvious chip, and proceeded to bubble wrap, box, and bubble wrap. So I ordered an exchange. The exchange arrives. Same packing. But when I go to open one of the grinders, the top is screwed on cockeyed. It was thankfully undamaged, but it could have very easily been cross threaded and they’d have a second return. So this company goes through all the trouble of bubble wrapping both the grinders and the box they come in, but some knucklehead in shipping can’t take an extra second out of their day to screw the tops on right. I’m betting that’s how the first chip happened.

Interesting design – fatally flawed execution
Originally I wanted wooden salt & pepper grinders, but the more I looked at these and thought about the design the more I liked them, so I bought a set. They just arrived and I have filled them and tried them out. Things I like: 1. Large capacity so they do not need refilling too often. 2. Clear glass body so it is easy to see the level of salt or pepper and know when to refill. 3. top grinder (instead of bottom grinder) means there is more mess left on countertop from salt or pepper dribbling out the bottom when I set the grinder down. 4. Ceramic grinder head that will not be corroded by the salt like metal grinders. What I do not like: Adjuster thumb screw on top does not have any notches to keep the adjustment from slipping. When I tighten up the thumb screw for a fine grind (I like fine grind on salt) the adjustment seems to stay put pretty well, but when I back off the thumb screw for a coarse grind on the pepper, the tension is very slight and the adjustment does not hold very well. I’m afraid the adjustment screw might come loose and fall off into my food. Some salt and pepper mills have little notches that allow for a loose setting without fear that the thumbscrew will come loose.Update: These have just totally come apart. The problem I identified early on, about not retaining a setting has just gotten much worse over time. The adjustment knob never stays tight and needs to be adjusted before almost every use. The silver metal ring came loose and falls down. now the ceramic grinder pieces are worn out and the pepper grinder does not work at all. This is not a one-off problem. The pieces are made of cheap, crappy material that just wears out until it does not work. I still like the large capacity and the clear sides that allow the user to see the fill level, but the materials and design quality are just junk. Do not waste your money on this cheap crap.
