Grinds up chicken bone very well
Very well made – sturdy and heavy duty. I started making my own dog food so ground up chicken back (which has bone in it) and beef. Need to grind once and then grind again to get all bones ground properly. Easy to use and easy to clean up. I watched some YouTube videos and they recommended freezing the parts before use. I did this and it helped but I don’t think it is that big of a deal. Just makes it easier to go through the machine I guess. Over all I’m very pleased with this investment.

Works Great for Processing Deer and Elk
Bought this product in 2020 and have been using it every year since to process the deer and elk the family hunts/harvests every year. It is super reliable and has saved us thousands of dollars on having our deer and elk processed at a commercial meat processing plant. It’s a big up front cost, but will save you thousands down the road in processing fees if you are willing to process your own wild game.

Nice grinder. LEM BIG Bite #12.
I’ve only used it once to make 4 pounds of homemade cat food. Next batch will probably be larger. I had chicken thigh bones with skin and bones. I used the large plate, then the medium plate and then the fine plate. The bones came out real small. The Cats love the food. The grinder didn’t even flinch at the thighs w/ the bones. Came out perfect and was easy to clean. Hope it last a long time because I like and the cats love the food. I used an online recipe that a Vet has made. It is partially cooked and has heart, liver, gizzard, thighs with bones and skin, vitamins.

Great grinder
This is my first heavy duty grinder so I cant really compare to anything but I am impressed at how fast this thing can grind. I make sure the first pieces are partially froze to get the inner tools cold- though I think it is recommended to put meat and tools in freezer for 20 minutes? Anyway, it works great. At first I was disappointed because it showed the feeder hole being bigger but after using it for a couple months, it is beneficial to eye it to know if you must cut something down to ensure it feeds fast. Not that it is recommended because bones are included, but a 3 to 4 lb whole rabbit, bones and all, will fit and grind to perfection; anything bigger and you will need to cut it to smaller size.

Great meat grinder, terrible sausage stuffer…
The grinder is nice but will stall on lots of fat like grinding for sausage. The sausage stuffing function is 100% worthless, period. Full stop. Go buy a dedicated stuffer. LEM makes a great one. But, these grinders are grinders. I just ground 15 pounds of brisket trimmings for sausage and the grind was done in less than 5 minutes, both course and fine grinds. The stuffer function failed as the mix was just pushing back out of the auger and not into the 24mm tube to the casing. So I just took out my 5 pound stuffer and zipped through it while my two boys took turns turning the crank. I was hoping the grinder could make this part easier but it made a complete mess of things.

Great grinder but not as powerful as I hoped
This LEM grinder works wonderful and worked very well for grinding our deer meat. I will say that I chose this model thinking I would be going a size higher than what I would need because I like to overpowet equipment like this knowing how difficult a task grinding your own wild game is. I will say that if you are doing more than one deer, an elk, a large hog or cow I would go the model higher! Like I said, it worked great but I thought it would be more powerful especially when I thought I was not cheaping out and getting a middle of their class unit.

Excellent Purchase!
We were looking for a grinder for moderate use. Grinding our own meat is cost effective and safer than what they call “ground beef” in the store and we hunt venison, turkey and hog. (not planning on using for bone)Sturdy! Easy to Use! Very well made grinder with speed and efficiency. Love the fact that the majority of this machine is Stainless Steel. Very clear user instructions. Well packaged for shipping. Came in the next day!Glad I bought the 12 and not the 5 or the 8. The larger capacity is a HUGE time saver. Planning on ordering several of the additional attachments and accessories. This LEM grinder will be with us for years to come!

I almost bought a size 12 meat grinder from another manufacturer for half the price. A closer look revealed that particular grinder required a wrench and the removal of several bolts to separate the grinding head for cleaning. The hassle, and probability of damaging the threads led me back to LEM. LEM’s five year warranty sealed the deal.LEM’s meat mixer seemed to be overpriced. I sourced one that this grinder can drive made by Valley Sportsman through Princess Auto for substantially less.I need a finer grinding plate for liver pate. I spent over six hours scouring Amazon for other sizes of stainless steel grinding plates without success. Finally, I sourced 3mm, 6mm, and 16mm (1/8″ 1/4″ 5/8″) plates from Smokehouse Chef.A foot switch is a very useful accessory for your meat grinder. I like them to control the motor while grinding meat or stuffing sausages. It keeps my greasy hands off of the motor unit. I chose the WEN WA0392 (ASIN B08BZX4XGY)from Amazon.Consider buying a float glass lapping plate from Jende (ASIN B08SQDR9K4) to maintain your grinder plates and knives in optimal condition. Instructions can be found with a Youtube search for “How to Easily Sharpen ANY grinder plate and knife.” I go one step further, and end with 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper. You’ll also need brushes to clean this meat grinder, and a food safe lubricant. I recommend a “Long Handle Water Bottle Cleaning Brush” (ASIN B09GFGV461) for the grinding head, and “Nylon Bottle Cleaning Brush Set” (ASIN B07F8RX2FR) for the grinding plates and stuffing tubes. I use Super Lube (ASIN B000UKUHXK)for the bushing in the grinding head. This meat grinder is a great start, but you’ll need to buy additional items to maintain, and get the most out of your purchase. The ones mentioned are what I chose. There are several more accessories available. Check LEM’s website, then check back here on Amazon where most are available.

My dog was sick after eating the raw food that I bought from a rawfood store. I decided to make rawfood for my dog by myself so that I can make sure I know what my dog ate. I bought the big bite #12 0.75HP. This machine is good enough for the job. It can grind chicken legs with bones. When I grind chicken leg, I use the plate with the large hole first, then the middle one and then the small one. Very happy with machine so far. If you need a grinder for making raw food for your lovely dog, choose #12 0.75hp or more powerful model.
