What would make this perfect??? A cover for the carafe…
I was a French press person in a previous life or I made cold brew coffee…A friend of mine started using the pour over so I thought I’d give it a try.First piece of advice… google pour over coffee and read a few different articles. It took me a few tries to get the coffee right. USE FRESH COFFEE BEANS AND FILTERED WATER… they will make all the difference.These are my ratios right now… 60g of coffee beans, 600 g water… I pour enough water initially to soak the coffee, wait 45 seconds then start a second pour. After that drains I do a zig zag pour, wait until it’s done. My final pour I find the dark parts of the coffee… By about 600-625 g I’m done. Just enough coffee for a large cup and the rest goes into the refrigerator for iced coffee…Just be patient. You’ll find the right ration for your taste. Only downside… not cover for the carafe… I ordered one of the Chemex Glass Covers. It isn’t perfect but it fits fairly tight.

This review is for the GROSCHE Amsterdam Glass Pour-Over Coffee Maker, which features glass construction, a reusable two-layer stainless steel filter, and an 850ml capacity. All-in-all, I think this is a beautiful and functional carafe. The silicone grip has made a few people take a second look since it appears leather-like at a glance.The filter is awesome as stainless steel filters go, though the way you use it and the resulting coffee are slightly different than with paper cones. Paper filters are better at removing sediment but tend to absorb some of the coffee’s natural oils, resulting in a clearer, brighter-tasting cup. Stainless steel filters let more oils and sediment through, creating a darker, richer cup. They also have low thermal mass, so no pre-heating is necessary, and your coffee ends up hotter. A gooseneck kettle, timer, and scale are strongly recommended to get the most out of this product.It’s worth mentioning that GROSCHE is a Canada-based certified B Corporation whose mission is to help people in need by providing safe drinking water. The “every cup fills another” branding reflects their commitment to fund 50+ days of safe drinking water for every product sold.

Simple and Elegant
This pour over is one of my favorite additions to my coffee brewing device collection. With its simple design, cleanup is a breeze because there are only three pieces to deal with. Be mindful of the metal mesh filter as scrubbing against the fold might result it coming apart. On that same note of the metal mesh filter, it works great but does suffer from having some remnants escaping its clutches. If you are a stickler for that type of thing then simply put a paper filter on top of it which ensures those drifting particles doesn’t end up in your coffee.

My old method of brewing coffee with a strainer was super messy and wasn’t that effective. Purchased this honestly because it looked cool, wasn’t expecting it to work as good as it did.After using it for the first time in was surprised and how strong the coffee came out. It was stronger than my purculator even though I was using the same amount of coffee. Coffee came out super hot.As long as my coffee is hot and strong, I’m happy. A few of my family members were very impressed while visiting. It looks like a very elegant contraption, but best of all it works.Highly recommend this for my fellow coffee addicts.
