Excesses makes preparing coffee more fun!!
âOk, it literally changed my coffee routine. Now every morning feels like Iâm in my own coffee shop. And the best part? Itâs super functional and stylish! âCome on, letâs be honest: who doesnât want something that looks good in the kitchen? This stand is gorgeous. The wood has an amazing finish that not only looks great, but also feels super sturdy. Plus, everything has its place: the tamper, the portafilter⦠Goodbye mess! You know that frustration when the portafilter moves while youâre tamping? Forget it. This stand keeps everything in place. The stability is brutal, and tamping is now much easier, above all, precise. Itâs a before and after in my coffee routine! Iâm not exaggerating: my espressos now taste better. The crema has that perfect texture I was always looking for, and the whole process feels more professional. Itâs like this stand has given me barista superpowers. Goodbye to mediocre coffee days! If you love coffee as much as I do and want to improve your experience, don’t hesitate: this stand is a game-changer. It’s beautiful, practical and makes preparing espresso a thousand times more fun.

Well made and looks good but it is a little too awkward.
I wanted to get another tamping station for my home espresso maker area and thought about giving this a try. I discovered that while it is well made it is also a little too small and the fact that the handle sticks out in the direction that it does makes it awkward to use because I often was bumping the handle and knocking the espresso holder out and getting coffee all over the place. I went back to my old espresso tamping station because the handle doesn’t stick out the front but actually sticks out the side.

Excellent, very good quality
As an espresso lover, I’m always looking for ways to improve my home brewing experience. This Excesses Wooden Tamper Stand has been an amazing addition to my rig, elevating both the functionality and style of my coffee station. The natural wood finish is not only visually appealing, but also conveys a sense of robustness. In addition, the compartments are perfectly designed to keep the tamper and the filter holder organized and within reach without having the rings that allow me to adjust the size for the filter holder, a detail that few have. The stability it offers when tamping is outstanding. I no longer have to worry about the portafilter slipping, which results in more consistent and effortless extractions.

The wood swelled, but it still looks good and functions well.
This is a pretty decent station, but the wood swelled, so now our tamps don’t fit in the spots on top. Instead, they rest unevenly. I could press them into those spots, but then they are hard to remove. It’s just more convenient to let it rest partially out of those spots. They could benefit from being widened just a millimeter, which I would do if I cared to take the time. The wood feels solid and looks great, but the adjustable part where the portafilter handle rests is a bit short. The stock portafilter that comes with a Gaggia Classic Pro doesn’t have a thick enough handle to rest on it even at its highest position. I wound up replacing that portafilter with one that has a thicker, round handle, so now it does rest on the peg. I’ll try to attach photos of the stock portafilter and the stopper or whatever that part is called. The portafilter fits a bit snugly, but didn’t at first, so I assume the wood swelled and made it a tighter fit as well. It’s not so bad, but I do have to press on the wood of the station when removing the portafilter or else the station will lift up as I try to remove the portafilter. Again, increased tolerances would have been nice. With wood, it’s kind of hard to predict exactly how much it will swell or shrink, and it’s impacted by the climate where it’s used, so I’m not blaming the manufacturer too much for that. It looks good on the counter and even has a storage tray that I’ve completely filled with some little parts that I don’t want to lose.

Not suitable for Rancilio 58mm portafilter
Although it claims to support 58mm, my rancilio silvia portafilter does not fit comfortably and will always tip toward you in operation. The screw cannot reach high enough to stop this. With the ring removed entirely, it’s kind of stable. Beyond this the wood looks fine, is smooth and the little drawer opens and closes nicely but the primary purpose of having a place to level and tamp does not work with my portafilter. The space beneath not having any easy way to clean it out – like say, having it just be a hole so you could lift it and brush away the espresso. As it is, this seems like a poor value and not well thought out, even if your portafilter fits.
