LOVE
I have been using these beans for espresso and I have to say I absolutely love them. I have never had coffee beans like these. I have noticed that my coffee grinder has a much easier time grinding these beans, which yields to better espresso pulls. These are the perfect medium roast as well. I’m not a coffee connoisseur and while espresso is somewhat new to me, I think this coffee is definitely the best I have had out of all of the beans I’ve tried. I like that the beans are less bitter than other beans I’ve tried which I prefer. Are these the best coffee beans in the entire world? Probably not, but I really like them.

A pleasantly delicious coffee that is well roasted and forgiving on the brew.
This is the first coffee Iâve had out of China and I wasnât sure what to expect. Iâve had plenty of tea grown and processed in China, some of it is fantastic and some not so much. In general, I find that there can be a large variety in quality of products that come from China, so I was not entirely sure how this coffee that is grown and roasted in China would turn out. Iâm pleased that it turned out good.Noting the coffee comes in several âflavorsâ, I was under the impression that this was flavored coffee, but in actuality, I donât think that is true and the âflavorâ that the coffee is advertised with is likely more the tasting notes than any added flavors. This was a pleasant surprise as Iâd rather have plain coffee and no flavoring (not to say I havenât had good flavored coffees). The flavor of this coffee does have, as true to itâs name, a caramel and hazelnut taste to it. It has a slightly creamy/bready mouthfeel to it that compliments that rougher tones of the roast and balancing soft with sharp. The beans are a mix of sizes and on average being slightly on the smaller end, but still a good size. I did see a few pee berries in the mix along with some other mildly deformed beans. This does look to be a single source harvest with a slightly more than expected variation in bean quality, but I donât think any of the beans I saw were technically bad. The beans are roasted medium dark, and I think the roast was done well and evenly. I do wonder what this coffee would be like as a medium or slightly milder roast as I think more character could be brought out, but at least it wasnât over roasted and these beans do hold up.Using a hand bur grinder, these beans are plenty soft and easy to grind. As expected with a bur grinder, the grind was consistent, but the grounds themselves are also consistent showing a good and consistent roast with the beans. Using my AeroPress and a superfine metal filter, I found this coffee to be forgiving in the brew process and allowing for some margin of error while still producing a good clean cup of coffee. Using the metal filter allowed for some of the oils to come through in the brew and the added body was noticeable and appreciated in the extra qualities it brought to the brew.I think this is a good coffee and something I can certainly continue to enjoy. I am pleased that this coffee turned out as good as it did and I can tell the effort that has gone into trying to make a well done offering. Hali has done a good job here and I look forward to trying more of their roasts, especially if they continue to refine their process and make even better coffee.

Disappointment
I don’t know if all the flavors are this mute, but this one was lacking flavor or any substance. Has more of a light tea than coffee profile and doesn’t have any caffeine kick whatsoever. It would be a great value for the size of the bag if it actually was good, but I’m not willing to invest more into this brand if this is what the first offering was like. I tried using it in a nespresso, a french press, a keurig, and a traditional drip coffee maker and none of them made palatable coffee unless combined with other coffee. This would be one star, but again at a value proposition it is there, but from a taste and efficacy standpoint its a hard pass for me…

Great taste
This coffee has a nice full taste and it smells great. The caramel chocolate hazelnut notes are very subtle, it really just tastes like a solid smooth dark roast. Great quality. Iâm very happy with it.

Nice Flavor
I ordered the caramel hazelnut coffee. Itâs a whole bean coffee which I always buy because I like that I get a fresher cup of coffee when I grind the beans right before I brew. My husband is the real coffee drinker in the house; however, he isnât much on the flavored coffees. Because Iâm not a huge coffee fan, the flavored coffees are what I go for. If my husband was reviewing this, he would have some wonderful terminology and explaining all about the oils and flavor tones. Alas, Iâm just a casual drinker that is more surface level. I know what I like and donât like but Iâm no connoisseur so I canât give a flowery description, but what I can say is that I like this coffee. It has a nice flavor that, to me, tends more to the medium roast which is good because thatâs what I like. For me the caramel hazelnut was more of a smell and definitely isnât very bold. I personally would have preferred it to be a little more overpowering, but I should mention again that Iâm not a huge coffee fan so for those of you that are Iâm sure that itâs just right. The date on the bottom shows to have been a couple of months past. Iâm generally guessing that the date may have been the production date and not the expiration date that I was looking for because nothing about these beans seemed old or dry. I found the price to be middle of the road. For the caramel hazelnut, the price doesnât seem over inflated, but I can find some cheaper. This bag will last for quite some time (yes, Iâll be putting it in an airtight container) so I wonât need more any time soon. I can see me ordering this coffee again in the future.

Its alright coffee
Honestly this coffee is on the average side of things, its nothing that I would buy for the price that it costs per bag. Its not really that bitter, but its also not very smooth. It overall just feels like average coffee. I do get some of the hazelnut flavor but its not the most present flavor in the coffee. Maybe its because im a tea drinker, but its just okay to my palate
