Love dark coffee
Every morning my husband and I drink this coffee with 1/4 mocha creamer, 1/4 milk, and a teaspoon of cinnadust. Best coffee ever.

Reminds me of my favorite coffee! Now my favorite coffee!
I won’t mention the specific coffee I’m referring to, but it’s from a well-known chain with numerous locations where you can get fancy coffees. This chain originally started on the west coast. The coffee I’m currently enjoying closely resembles one of their dark roasts. It has an intense, robust flavor profile with a touch of smokiness, which is exactly what I love in my coffee. The beans are very dark and oily, which contributes to the rich flavor. However, the oiliness does have a downsideâit tends to clog up my grinder after a while. Despite this minor inconvenience, I don’t mind cleaning the grinder frequently because the quality of the coffee is worth it. The ground coffee performed exceptionally well in both my espresso maker and my drip coffee maker. The espresso maker brought out its deep, rich flavors, making for a perfect shot of espresso. Meanwhile, the drip coffee maker produced a smooth and well-balanced cup of coffee, making it an excellent choice for starting the day. Considering the quality and flavor profile, the cost of this coffee is quite reasonable. For what you get, it’s a fantastic deal, especially if you appreciate the deep, smoky flavors of a well-crafted dark roast. Overall, this coffee has become a favorite of mine due to its intense and smoky flavor, reminiscent of the well-known coffee chain’s dark roasts. While the oily beans require a bit more maintenance with the grinder, the exceptional taste and performance in both brewing methods make it a worthwhile addition to my morning routine.5 Stars = Excellent brand and product, great deal!4 Stars = Really good product with a minor fault or two.3 Stars = Average just like the number. As good as other top brands
I’m a regular coffee drinker with at least several cups consumed daily, mostly brewed with our automated Phillips machine. There are specific brands/types I prefer (mainly those with Italian connections), but unless the coffee beans are truly terrible, it’s hard for me to label one type being better than another. The beans from Whole Foods have turned out to be good, but it’s pretty much the same level as those from other top brands, not spectacularly better. The colors are uniform and it smells very good right out of the pack. You’ll be familiar with the crema and smoky taste from this extra dark roast. I couldn’t figure out which country the beans package originated from — WF mentions procuring them from more than 20 countries, so there’s a good chance its a mix of variety of sources. I don’t think I’ll go out of my way to buy these but will continue to brew them when they’re around.

Truly Extra Dark, Great Price
These beans are truly extra dark, and the first ones I’ve tried like this. They are smoky/ashy with more flavor than other dark roasts I’ve tried that simply have a dull, burnt taste. I brewed this as espresso for a latte with oatmilk. It stands up well to the milk and other flavors that may be added. For me, this is a bit too dark but glad to have tried it.The price is great and so is the quality. All of the beans are whole and the bag doesn’t have broken pieces. These have a visible shine/oil on them and smell/taste fresh. All of the coffee bean varieties I’ve tried from Whole Foods have been great.

Great Smokey Dark Roast
I’m not a coffee connoisseur nor do I have the palette to be one, but I do enjoy a good cup or coffee and this is good coffee. It is a very dark roast and the beans are quite oily. It’s smells delicious when being brewed as you would expect. It has a nice smokey flavor without being overly acidic. The price is fair for organic beans. My bag came sealed up great and well within the best use date. Great coffee. Give it a try.

Can’t believe I’m saying this, but it actually feels like a great extra dark roast.
I have a small hometown coffee roaster make my favorite extra dark roast bean for almost 20 years now with good consistency. This version at Whole Foods is actually the closest thing I’ve had to replicating the good qualities of that roast I’m used to from back home.It is truly dark, with solid notes of dark chocolate and vanilla and roasted nuts. It doesn’t taste better, or leave much of a bitter after taste. If anything, it dries your mouth out just a little bit after a few minutes.I made this using a medium grind bur grinder at home, and a drip machine with really accurate temperature control in the range of 205 to 210F.

Very strong coffee that will wake you up in the morning
If you enjoy a bold dark roast coffee, you will probably like this extra dark roast variety from Whole Foods Market. I have tried several medium roast flavors from Whole Foods Market recently, but this is the first dark roast I have tried from them. It might be the strongest coffee I have ever made at home. It’s a little bitter, but I love the flavor. I personally like to add some sugar and cream to reduce the bitterness, but some people might like to use this coffee to make espresso. I can tell the beans are very fresh. They are also a bit oily, so be careful if you plan to grind these in an espresso machine since some brands don’t work well with oily beans.

Delicious coffee, super oily beans
The Whole Foods Market, extra dark roast coffee is a great smelling, great tasting, fresh, but super oily whole bean coffee. The kind of beans that can really muck up an espresso machine. The taste though is fantastic, probably one of the best dark roasts I’ve had, which took me by surprise because it’s an extra dark roast and I was expecting it to be too bitter for my liking. It was smooth and not overly bitter. I’ve enjoyed every cup that I’ve had. It’s an average sized bag and if you drink coffee regularly will be used up pretty quickly but if you don’t drink coffee often, be advised that I got this in March, and it expires by July. The price seems competitive, and I would have no doubts about getting this again.
