Should have started with Weston brand
When I purchased a Food Saver, my fear was being stuck purchasing bags that would cost a fortune. With the idea that I wanted to save money by buying food in bulk, or saving what I had already made by vacuum sealing it, I didn’t want to spend a ton of money doing so. I wondered to myself, ‘Why do these bags have to be so expensive?’I really do wish I purchased my food sealing system from Weston. After doing way more research than one should do on a food sealing system, I came to the conclusion that Weston is the company I should have started with. Yes, there initial cost is astronomical in comparison, however they have their business model right, where the cost to get started is high, but the cost over time is low.Now on to the bags….These bags work just as well as any other vacuum sealing bag I have used (Food Saver). The material seems thinner, however it works just fine, and I have yet to have one not seal correctly, or loose its vacuum. This size of bag is great for preparing frozen meals, storing fish fillets, and even small articles of clothing to keep them dry (Socks, underwear, gloves).I will always look to Weston for more bags, because the price is reasonable, and the quality is great. Even though I wish I started with Weston products, I will probably run the life of my current Food Saver first before I dive into purchasing a Weston brand food vacuum and sealing system.

Been buying these for years!
Weâve been buying these vacuum seal bags for years. Nothing beats vacuum sealing and freezing a huge batch of smoked meats for ready-to-go dinners! They work perfect with our sous vide as well. We like the quart size because it holds the perfect amount of food for us. We can easily separate out one pound per bag. I also like the notch they include for easy opening later!

Perfectly Functional Vacuum Sealer Bags
I love my FoodSaver 5800 but I do not enjoy paying $500 for their brand of vacuum sealer bags (hyperbole completely justified because, while not hundreds of $$$, they’re still way more expensive than Weston…exception: when Costco has the awesome combo pack of bags + rolls on sale for less than $30). As someone that goes through insane amounts of bags on a daily basis (due to frequent sous vide cooking + buying food in bulk and storing in a separate freezer) – I wanted an affordable yet quality substitute and went for these Weston bags as recommended by ChefSteps. While not on the same level of quality as the FoodSaver bags – these definitely get the job done. On the positive side: I’ve had 0 issues with getting the FoodSaver to recognize the Weston bags, no issues so far with the sealing, and no instances of accidental leaks during sous vide cooking. On the downside, there are 2 reasons I can’t give these 5 stars, granted they’re relatively minor: 1) No dedicated portion on the bag for labelling (and anyone that uses vacuum sealer bags for freezing/storage will know just how important this is), 2) Doing a side-by-side comparison between Weston and FoodSaver bags, I notice that the Westons feel a tad bit thinner and just a slight lower quality of material – for most cooking applications this is no cause of concern but for heavy bone-in meats or foods going through days long cooking times, it may require double-bagging just to be on the safe side. All in all, these are a great value and I will definitely purchase more in the near future.

Easy to use and cost effective!
I donât follow buying all too name brands and Iâm glad I bought these. Easy to use and top notch quality. Size is perfect for most steaks and meats but you can also cut them down for smaller packages like single serve vegetables.

Great product!
I have using vacuum sealer bags going on 20+ years, have always used Food Saver machines. I have used the Foodsaver, Eurobib, Ziploc and many other no name brands, as like many I am not a fan of paying what Foodsaver or Eurobib are asking. I prefer the pre-sealed bags vs rolls simply because of time and having to run my sealer twice just to make a bag. These Weston bags to me appear to be the same quality as food saver and eurobib and much much better than ziploc. Made 50lbs of country style sausage this weekend and I inspected every bag after each seal, with only one needing a reseal, I had a small wrinkle in the bag.I was so impressed by these I ordered 2 more packages of different sizes to use for my next 1/2 beef and processing after this upcoming deer season.Cost – per 100, these were $11 cheaper than Eurobib. for the size I bought.I will be reorganizing the freezer in the coming weeks, if I find any of the packages no longer sealed I will update this post.

These vac sealer bags are great. Very good quality heavy plastic and the seal holds after many months in storage to keep foods fresh. Zipper is convenient. Would buy again. A+
