I bought a lot of these and organized my pantry. I had SEVEN boxes of orzo buried in the pantry. SEVEN. I use them for everything – chips, cereal, pasta, anything that comes in a bag or a box goes in these. No more one-potato-chip-in-the-bag. No more empty cereal boxes on the shelves. Being organized makes me happy.

These containers are great. I purchased them with the intent to get the pantry organized “once and for all!” They work. They fit, they stack. The labels are great.

Great little organizers, perfect for small spaces
The pantry in my current living space is VERY small. I needed some food storage containers that were lightweight, stackable, airtight and made of a safe plastic. This set fit the bill perfectly!
These VTopmart containers came in a package of 12 bottoms and 12 lids–all made of food safe polypropylene (also called PP, the plastic type that is labeled with a #5 in the recycling triangle). The lids have a rubber gasket and snap on flaps that hold it shut tightly over the containers to keep out bugs, air and moisture, so food stays fresh and sanitary. I know they are airtight, because when I recently took them on a trip and changed altitude, the air whooshed out like from a vacuum-sealed container after I opened one! I stored them in my camper for a few weeks and did not get any insects or mice in my food.
They are rectangular, measuring approximately 4 x 6 x 6.5 inches, so they fit perfectly on my narrow pantry shelves and stack nice and neatly. Each one holds about 1-2 pounds of sugar, gluten-free flour, nuts, etc. Because they are clear, you can easily identify the contents of each one. However, just to be on the safe side, they come with self-adhesive labels and a chalk-pen, so you can identify the contents.
Although they are supposed to be dishwasher safe, I washed them by hand. I don’t want to run the risk of discoloration or detergent film being left on the containers. The manufacturer says you can use them in the freezer, but plastic can get brittle and break that way. I also would never cook food in a plastic container in the microwave–no matter how safe the manufacturer says they are. That’s not only asking for chemicals to leach into your food, but can also result in scorching or melting foods (especially tomato products) into the plastic and discoloring the containers.
They sell for about $40 now, which I think is a bit high. However, when I bought mine, they were about $35. Compared to Rubbermaid and other plastic ware, that’s not bad. But these are more stackable, so I like them better. You can also get the same great quality and stackability in different sizes, if you have more room. If you want some great containers that fit nicely in your pantry and keep your food safe and dry, I highly recommend this product!

Perfect size
We had a cabinet shelf filled to overflowing with small bags of grains like quinoa and barley. It was difficult to manage. Most had been opened and partly used, so the tops were closed with clips. Spills were rare but inevitable over time.
These containers are perfect for storing those grains. Perfect size (I bought the 1.5 quart size in a 12-pack), stackable, airtight seal. I took off one star due to the black labels with an included white marker to identify the contents. The markerâs tip was a little wide for neat labeling, and the ink was faint. They are not very readable. The good news is you can easily see the contents through the clear plastic.
The label design looks cool on the web but isnât very practical. I suspect the markers get too old to work well. A finer tip would have been nice. Or just give us white labels that any pen will work on.
