An excellent sampler of incredible Darjeelings
The Bottom Line: Vahdam makes some incredible teas, and Darjeeling is their specialty. I thoroughly enjoyed every tea in the sampler and bought many more teas from Vahdam. This sampler is an excellent way to figure out what you’ll like.I tried all 10 teas in this sampler, and here are the results of the taste test.Darjeeling Spring – Opening the bag, the smell is incredible. The tea is very light, strong delicate spicy flavors, very aromatic. Slightly herbal like a green/white tea. Has a slight spice flavor – very warming. Light body with delicious delicate flavors. Excellent.Darjeeling Daily Summer – The tea leaves smell incredible fresh out of the bag. Tea is medium, some roast flavors, very aromatic with herbal aromas. A very interesting medium roast with light muscatel spice. Very slight herbal oolong flavors. Darker and stronger than the Darjeeling Spring.Darjeeling Muscatel Imperial – I slightly overstepped this and it is overly bitter. Has a great darjeeling flavor, similar to previous ones. The tea leaves smelled great with a sweet wine grape aroma. Second brew was much better with some light muscatel grape flavors. Very smooth. Good flavors, and everything goes together well. Darker and stronger than the others, the closest to a breakfast tea. Steep this one for less time because it was the only one that got bitter.Darjeeling Spring Gold – Greenish leaves, quite light color tea, nearly green tea color. Has a very nice aroma of medium herbal floral notes. Taste has some rose buds, delicate flowers, slight sweetness. A very good light tea. Second infusion is similarly light and delicate, with slight papery bitterness of Darjeeling. Better than Darjeeling spring, but lighter and more floral.Castleton Premium Spring Darjeeling – Best yet. Lots of great flavors, nothing off-putting. Family members liked it a lot and raves about it. Good medium weight easy drinker. Second and third infusions are solidly pleasant. I picked up a full bag. My favorite spring Darjeeling of the sampler.Okayti Premium Spring Darjeeling – Solid, good flavors, very mellow. Medium color and weight. Has a slight tongue coating property. Less herbal/floral than other versions, more earthy instead. Overly mellow – needs more flavors to be a stand out. Delicious, but the others are even better.Giddhapur Spring Darjeeling – The lightest, most green tea-like so far, somewhere between oolong and green tea. Has some nice floral aromas. Has that distinct vegetal green tea flavor, but much more subdued than a typical green tea. Nice darjeeling flavors blended in. It really is quite pleasant – an excellent light, delicate tea.High Mountain Darjeeling Oolong – Wow this one packs a punch of exotic aromas and flavors. Darker and more flavorful than the spring Darjeelings without the green half-baked flavors that sometimes come with Oolong. The grape muscatel is present with a supporting cast of floral and fruit flavors. Has a uniquely smooth flavor that comes from the oolong process. Very good.Masala Chai – I generally don’t like chai teas, but this is easily the best I’ve had. The spices are distinct, well blended, and complement the tea flavors. I really enjoyed it. An excellent Christmas tea.Pearl White – Very light, almost clear. Extremely delicate aroma and flavor that is very pleasant. I drank the entire pot without realizing it. Very delicious.

    Nice assortment
I got one of these to try out more Darjeeling tea blends. I liked it and have gifted several to friends. The Chai Spiced Tea is my favorite and I ordered a bag of it from Vahdam. I know that’s odd since Chai means tea…Tea Spiced Tea? Oh, well. Going through the blends was pleasant and friends who like tea seem to enjoy getting one.

Beautiful fragrance, clean taste and honeyed finish – plus a FUN sampler set to try out
WOW, I’m just LOVING this Darjeeling tea sampler set! It’s a very generous selection of all kinds of Darjeeling teas: first flush, second flush, black, oolong, green – all of the Darjeeling variety. Some of the teas are better for a late afternoon cup; more robust ones are my morning pick. Each sampler pouch makes 2-3 full pots of tea. I also keep Vadham muscatel tea on hand for breakfast, and their chai tea with cardamom is TIP-TOP for late afternoon or even in the middle of the night! This tea selection can actually help a tea drinker find the best brew for their palate. I find all the Vadham teas I’ve bought at Amazon to have a beautiful nose with incredibly CLEAN, honeyed finish. They are not like store-bought Indian tea that comes packaged in large boxes with a harvest date of a year or two old! Also, there is very little if any tea “dust” when I put a couple teaspoons into the tea caddy. I typically rinse any tea under hot water for 10 seconds to wash off the “dust” before brewing. These Vadham teas have so little tea “dust” that it speaks volumes for the care in packing and shipping. You are truly getting premium tea leaves that have been recently picked and shipped with care.I am eager to share this Darjeeling sampler with my family when they come to visit next week. We are all avid Darjeeling tea drinkers, and I will be curious to know which one(s) they prefer, cuz I’ll likely follow that up with a gift order of Vadham teas!

    Excellent variety of teas.
I am a senior citizen and had a lot of difficulty opening the packages of tea. I didn’t realize they were not coming in the little tins, which I had one other time with Vahdam tea.The quality of tea is excellent.

    Good tea
Great product. I like the tea, but my favorite is blueberry black which has a higher caffeine content from Yunan Dali.

    Excellent sampler pack.
Very nice sampler pack. Each type of tea is individually packaged in a very nice resealable pouch, plainly labeled (just as you see on the larger pouches); each pouch contains enough tea for at least 3 or 4 cups, plenty enough to adequately sample each ‘flavor’/type. This is my first time to try “real” tea, and it is indeed excellent. I recommend brewing the tea as instructed (about 1 teaspoon per cup; steeped in almost boiling water for 3-5 minutes)…it is definitely different from the usual name brand tea bags you buy at WalMart. I’ve only tried 4 of the 10 samples, but each was very good; wonderful aroma & flavor. I will definitely buy Vahdam teas again! If you like loose leaf tea or are just wanting to try it for the first time, I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed with this purchase. UPDATE: Having tried all 10 of the samples, every one is excellent; but of course, each person’s taste will decide which you like the least or best. The smoky Assam is so different, very smoky aroma and flavor; not for everyone obviously, but it is indeed ‘different’. Same for the Blooming Rose – great flavor, really was a surprise as I didn’t think I would care for it. So fare the Assam varieties are my favorite, probably closer in strength to our good old ‘southern’ tea that I’m used to – as opposed to the breakfast tea varieties that seem weaker, but are flavorful none the less.

This is a wonderful way to enjoy a variety of good teas, in this case from Darjeeling – my own particular favourite. The range of seasons colours and flavours has been a revelation. I use an infuser, two cup teapot – an excellent way to test these samples. The teas are clear with distinct colours and flavours.I have not yet decided on my favourites, but it is fun finding out. I believe that I will probably choose at least 4, to suit the weather, time of day, and what I fancy at the time.A quality product, educational, enlughtening and great fun.
