Good canister all metal, air tight. Quite small, lot of space wasted.
This is a very good coffee canister. All stainless steel with airtight cover. An internal slide in cover to completely eliminate air from beans contact. This is a design which is popularized by one of the major design house. It works exactly as described. However, it holds very little coffee, barely about a pound. You have to leave lot of space on top for the internal lid, its handle and for the outer cover. I think the internal lid could have had a foldable stainless steel handle to save some space.I normally buy 1Kg beans so it can’t keep even half of it. I will prefer a 1Kg bean cans vs this. If you buy smaller quantity this should be fine.

Works really well for keeping tea fresh
I love the looks of this cannister from GAIAKALLON. The walnut lids and textured matte stainless steel are very attractive. The SS is thicker than other similar cannisters I have, which makes it better quality and more durable. I also have glass jars with this type of wood lid with a thin gasket, and they are never very airtight. the design of this cannister solves that problem by using an inner lid that pushes out air as it is pressed down, creating a vaccum. Some dislike the loss of storage space, but I’m happy with it because it really does help to preserve freshness.I’m using mine to store about 8 oz of Earl Grey tea which is quite fragrant. When I remove the top lid, there’s only a slight aroma. That tells me that air is being mostly kept from escaping. Not a perfect vaccum system, but close. My tea has been stored for almost 2 months now and is still fresh. The cannister could probably fit another 2 – 4 oz of tea leaves.Note that the inner lid design does keep this from being a convenient type of storage. You can’t just lift a lid to open and start scooping out coffee beans or tea leaves. Removing the extra inner lid could become annoying. I don’t mind that, and for looks, function and value I’m happy.

Very Great!
If you are serious about keeping your coffee beans fresh then this is the canister for you. Oxygen is the enemy of fresh coffee. Imagine leaving a fresh peace of cake out in the open. It will get stale quickly. Your coffee is also getting stale if left exposed to air. Other canisters may be airtight but they also lock air in. This canister is different in that it has an inner lid which slides down pushing air out of the canister. Of course, it is a one-way valve so that the carbon dioxide can properly escape freshly roasted coffee. The coffee is further protected by second outer airtight lid.I have been roasting my own coffee beans for several years now and have found that these vacuum type canisters are the best for keeping coffee fresh.Though there are other canisters that work similarly this one looks better than any of them in my opinion. I love the Walnut wood and how it contrasts with the black metal canister (see attached photos). I also like that it comes with spare valves.The larger 33 ounce size is perfect to fit a full bag of beans from your favorite roaster.Very nice!
