Grind settings are perfect for it. Build quality is great with all metal parts, plus foldable arm too. Best bang for buck in this category.

This is an ideal lightweight solution for traveling. The grinder holds the correct amount of beans for a single serving in my Aeropress and produces quality ground coffee. The operation is smooth.

I recently purchased this grinder after a bit of extensive reviewing of YouTube videos and Google searching for manual coffee grinders. I just started in my coffee journey and this covers my needs: 1. Grind well enough for pour over/Aeropress coffee 2. Be compact enough to travel with 3. Not break the bank. I recently picked this up during a coincidental lightning deal here on Amazon, that also had an additional coupon offer for this particular one, so all in it was about $65. Great price point for this and although I could have gone with the standard Chestnut C2 for about or a little less than $50 with the lightning deal and added discount, I opted for the gold because of the foldable handle. Hopper fit my usual 20g dose of medium/light roast beans and initially I dialed in at 18 clicks and I found that it was a bit finer than what I got ground for me at a specialty coffee shop near by. I had asked them to grind the beans for me for pour over coffee because at the time I didn’t have this. I will have to play around and dial in to find a similar grind size as what I’m used to brewing with but the cup I made with the default setting was well extracted and the bed was relatively flat. The build of this grinder is quite well put together, the aluminum knurled body and the stainless steel burrs and handle has a good weight to it but not over bearing. Grinding time was fairly quick as I was just kind of going at a pace until I felt the handle spin freely, so I ground 20g of coffee in about 40-45 seconds. Your results will of course vary but I found that to be acceptable for me and I probably could have sped it up. Overall I’m quite happy with this purchase and definitely recommend it if you were to build out your coffee kit.

Very well made.
This grinder is unreasonably satisfying. Solid. Precise. Easy to operate. Great fit and finish. Extremely consistent grind. It’s kind of fun to grab the handle and manually grind the morning’s beans. Much quieter than an electric grinder. Much more travel friendly too.Perfect size for single cup brewing.Highly recommended.

I’ve used this grinder several times now and my review is based on that experience. Overall, it working well for how I’ve used it so far.Pros1) the grinder seems well-built and sturdy, at least from the outside2) the handle folds, which is a plus for me because it’s less awkward than other grinders3) on the setting I’m using for espresso coffee, it produces a fine, consistent grindCons1) it can be messy unless I gently tap the bottom of the grinder on the kitchen a few times. There is a tendency for ground coffee to cling to the underside of the top half of the grinder (below the grinding burr). The tapping releases the ground coffee into the basket below the grinding burr. I spoon the ground coffee out of the basket but there are always a little ground coffee that’s hard to remove.2) the grind setting mechanism is a bit convoluted, compared to other grinders I’ve used. If you use only one setting, you can leave it there and forget it. That’s why I’ve used it only for espresso grind so far. If I want to grind beans for drip coffee, I’ll have to go through the procedure again. You’ll understand this con if you buy the grinder and read the manual. This grinder is the second one of this style I’ve bought here. The first grinder I bought before has been discontinued and I think I know why. It stopped working after only about 18 months of use and I couldn’t disassemble it to see where the failure was. The grind setting was easier on that grinder but, on any grind setting, it ground beans too finely. I could never get a very coarse grind setting that would allow me to make French press. When the first grinder broke, it would not grind beans on any setting. Maybe that problem was resolved in what appears to be the 2nd generation of this style of grinder (long cylindrical shape with removable handle to load beans at the top, grinding burr in the middle and a basket to catch the ground coffee at the bottom.Obviously, since I’ve used this grinder only a few times, I don’t know how long it will work. But I hope it lasts longer than 18 months. I had a Zassenhaus grinder that worked for 10 years and it worked great (simple grind settings, easy to load beans and easy to remove the ground coffee). I would have bought another one to replace it but the price had doubled in 10 years and customer reviews suggested a much higher failure rate than when I bought mine.I will update my review if using it longer reveals other things about this grinder I really like or don’t like.UPDATE: I want to add an explanation for my comment about the grind setting function of this grinder. I’ve knocked a star off the highest rating because of it. Grind settings are not visible at a glance and it’s impossible to know the grind setting, especially if others in the household use the grinder. One sets the grinder setting by turning the nut at the bottom of the top half of the grinder. For a fine grind, one turns the nut clockwise and, for a coarser grind, counter-clockwise. But in order to set the grind fineness, you have to turn the nut clockwise until it stops – this is the base point and then you turn the nut counter-clockwise to choose your setting. Except you’re warned to not use settings 1-10, presumably to avoid damaging the burr. So your finest setting has to be at position 11 clicks counter-clockwise from the base point. You can’t tell what the grinder setting visually. To know it, you have to turn the nut clockwise to the base point and then counter-clockwise to the desired setting. If others in your household use the grinder, you won’t know the grind setting when you use the grinder; so, you have to go through this exercise every time you grind coffee beans (or whatever you’re grinding). It’s a convoluted process and takes patience.

This is the perfect little espresso grinder for my picopresso. Definitely has small enough steps to tune your espresso making. A non espresso grinder might struggle to get the precise size you’re looking for.
