This is made out of aluminum and silicone. I had bought another product that had plastic rims, so I decided to replace that.The top lid covers the whole teapot which is great for keeping insects and dust out. Everything is easy to take apart and clean.The only downside (1 star off) is that after I pour, a bit of the tea drips down the side. The spout isn’t quite right and doesn’t have the correct lip. So, some of the tea will drip down the front. But, I usually just keep a rag handy to wipe the tea from dripping down.

i’ve been using this a lot and, I did as they suggested for herbal teas. I just put them loose in the body of the teapot and keep them there instead of using the insert. So, for iced tea, I put in the herbal tea at night and it is ready in the morning. When I pour, the strainer at the spout keeps the leaves out of the drink.I use the insert for teas that have actual tea leaves.I was afraid to really put it on my stovetop, but I did to speed up some iced tea and it worked fine. No problem with the flame against it.

This is very nice for looseleaf tea or tea bags or fruit and vegetable infused waters. It’s a great size for multiple cups of tea. I really like the fact that it’s tempered glass and you can boil the water on the stove in the pot. I gave it four stars because the little nub on top of the Carafe lid is fussy and difficult to hold onto and gets hot when brewing hot tea so you need to use a towel or pad or some thing to keep from burning your fingers if you are brewing a tannic tea, and want to remove the infuser while the tea is still hot.
