The style and design are nice. Operationally, not so much. I fully charged the battery and filled the hopper to only 80% as per the included instructions and it struggled to grind. I tried adjusting to a coarse grind but that didn’t make any difference. The grinder motor simply was not up to the task and would either struggle to grind or stall completely.

If you want the best espresso grinder you can get for a beginner price, I’d go for one of the many manual-operated hand grinders with steel burrs. But there are those of us in the world who are willing to sacrifice a little espresso specialness for convenience, and for us, this is a great option. It’s affordable, cheap and cheerful, and gets the job done. It turns coffee into coffee dust well enough, especially if you’re doing drip coffee. Plus, if you’re going camping and you don’t have a hand grinder, why not pick this up so you can make an aeropress in the woods?

This might be useful if the motor was really powerful, to let you make a shot of coffee quickly. But this is a tiny little grinder that’s really only good for a single serving (which is fine) but it takes some time to grind, particularly if you want a fine grind like you’d need for a cappuccino. It probably makes more sense for most people to have a slightly larger or a more powerful unit.
