Almost gave it 4 stars
I purchased this for camping, instant coffee and bulky presses just don’t work for me in the backcountry, after reading many reviews. The common complaints were that it isn’t stable enough and the flow of coffee is too slow. The flow of the coffee is not a function of the stand but of filter density and how much coffee is in the filter. The stability is what almost cost this a star, it can be very unstable sitting on a rock or on the ground. However if I sit it on my countertop at home it is very stable and I don’t think backcountry hikers are the target audience. It is easy to set up, seems reasonably durable and is also light enough for my uses. If you like quality coffee (and carry it with you on your hikes) it is a worthwhile investment so for my uses it earned 5 stars. If you are looking for something to use for pour over at home there may be better options but this one is still pretty good.

Purchased for camping/backpacking
Lightweight and collapses down to be very small and easy to pack. I have had some issues with its stability while sitting on the cup. That may be because I am trying to use it on a stainless steel 20oz cup that doubles as a boiler for backpacking. The SS cup has a wider mouth than a standard coffee cup and is more slippery (for lack of a better way of describing it) than a mug, so it is unstable. With a smaller ceramic or plastic mug it would probably be better.

YAY! COFFEE!
I’ve used this with a jet boil system camping and I’ve used this with a collapsible electric kettle when traveling.I FINALLY have full coffee control when traveling. I despise being dependent on whatever a hotel has available in the morning.I mostly motorcycle travel and space is at a premium. This makes the coffee part easy to include.

Exactly what I wanted
Small, portable, light & efficient. This little holder does exactly what I needed & wanted. Great for backpacker/hikers that love there coffee but want to cut down on pack weight. Makes a great cup of coffee.

Clever R&D
It folds flat..in my Haversack weight is near nothing..best of all simplicity of making of the Joe. Will be purchasing 4 or 5 more for Xmas presents for my Backpacking Bro’s Great Quality gear…

Works well
It works as well as a solid holder. Fold flat so fits my car travel packing. The write up should say what size filter works best. No 2 I think is best.

Cute idea, but constructed wrong with wrong gauge wire. Caution spills
Interesting concept, but when pouring water on coffee grounds in a filter this coiled device is very prone to tip over and/or one must pour the hot water painfully slow. Expanding coils helps reduce but not eliminate the problem. This cute idea should have been made with thicker gauge and longer wire.I went back to using the collapsible basket, also sold here on Amazon.I should return this flimsy product but it doesn’t cost much so will keep it as a museum piece or pencil holder.
