How should I store my tea?

The best way to store tea is inside an airtight container in a dry, cool, dark place and try to keep your teas away from highly fragrant products like spices or herbs. For optimal freshness, keep your tea leaves inside our reusable foil bags.

How long does tea stay fresh?

Tea is like dry herbs or spices – it does not really “go bad” but the complexity of its aroma will fade over time. To experience peak freshness, we recommend consuming green and whites teas within 2 months, and oolong, black and herbal teas within 4 months for the best flavor.

    Best teapot I ever had!
Even though it is small, it is a perfect size for one person and it makes making loose leaf tea so much easier! Easy to use and easy to clean

    Perfect cup of tea
I discovered this little tea brewing pot at a small organic restaurant in rural Wisconsin. I searched and searched y describing it and finally found it. My absolute favorite for brewing loose tea! Brews, strains in one go – easily rinses clean.

    Works well, easy to clean
I was using a coffee press for my loose leaf tea but it would no drain all the tea out. This one, you get all the tea. Easy to clean.

    Every day use
This is a great teapot for everyday use. It has not had issues with any temp of water I throw in it or any type of tea. The only challenge is with rooibos, which tends to get stuck between the mesh and the structure around it. It doesn’t pour out into my cup, but it is a bit of a pain to clean out of a kettle of this design. I do highly recommend it.

    Really nice but very fragile
I received this for my birthday from my son, bundled with some amazing loose leaf tea. I love how easy it is to brew one cup of tea at a time in this small teapot. The temperature and the timing is easy to manage for a perfect cup of tea. I made the mistake of putting this in the sink with other dishes to wash. Another dished clanked against this while in the sink and it easily cracked. I contacted Rishi to order a replacement small teapot but customer service is non responsive. I really liked using the teapot for the two months that I had it before it cracked.

Great tool for making a great cup of tea or a small pitcher of tea
I was concerned that my XXL hands wouldn’t fit into the tall and narrow glass container, making it difficult to thoroughly wash. My hand barely fits inside but it’s not difficult to clean the teapot. I also bought the 12 ounce version and it’s very easy to clean.I was concerned that the strainer wouldn’t be fine enough to catch the small tea dust and I’d have a cloudy cup of tea with silt in the bottom of the cup. I poured the tea into a clear glass and there was no debris. The brewed tea was dark and rich, but had a wonderful clarity with no sediment and apparently no suspended particles. I had used the first teaspoon of high quality tea (Yorkshire Gold) from a new package, so there probably wasn’t much of the tea dust that’s found in the lower grade “floor sweepings” brands of tea, but the filter apparently works very well.I was concerned that a filter that was effective would be slow, but it only took a few seconds to pour a cup of tea. It didn’t take much longer than pouring tea from a teapot without a filter.I finally broke the 12 ounce French press tea cup that I use 2-3 times per day so I just bought a replacement. I prefer to drink directly from the 12 ounce cup, so I unscrewed the stainless lid from the French press and replaced the lid with a short stainless machine screw that I use as a tiny handle stalk. I microwave the water and tea in the borosilicate glass. When steeping is finished, I push the French press an inch into the cup to filter the tea leaves and I sip the tea directly from this tea cup. I wish someone made a 12 ounce French press tea mug that didn’t need to be modified. Who wants to wash two cups? I also wish the glass was thicker so it would be less fragile. The replacement 12 ounce tea mug has the etched Rishi logo. I liked it better without a logo. The design and build quality are both excellent. This is a great tool for making a great cup of tea, or a small pitcher of tea.

    Extremely offensive metallic smell/taste
The strainer has an extremely offensive metallic smell that imparts a strong metallic flavor to anything that comes in contact with it. I have tried cleaning the strainer with soap, a vinegar solution, a baking soda solution, washing it in the dishwasher, letting it soak in hot/boiling water and nothing makes the smell and metallic flavor imparting properties go away. Food-safe stainless steel should be odorless and this is certainly not odorless, so I question it’s food safety. As some other reviews have stated, the lid is very secure to the point of being difficult to get off. The secure fit of the lid isn’t a big deal on its own but it does produce a horribly unpleasent, spine tingling, metal-on-glass scratching noise whenever the lid is removed. It’s truly a shame because I really wanted to like this brewer. It has so much going for it for an avid tea drinker. But a tea brewer that ruins the tea with an overwhelming metallic flavor is unacceptable.

Fabulous for making loose leaf tea. Much better than the tea egg or filtering spoons I have used in the past. Size is perfect for a large mug of tea. Love it. I actually bought two of them!
