Good quality tamper to replace cheap ones that come bundled with your machine
My wife is the barista of the house, and she expressed some challenges with the default tamper that came with our Breville Barista Pro. The tamper that comes with that feels flimsy, lightweight, and plastic and makes it difficult to apply consistent pressure. This is exactly what we needed. The 53.3mm one is a perfect replacement for ours, and there’s an excellent weight and heft that this one has that the original doesn’t. It’s extremely easy to use as well; just put the stainless steel plate on your coffee and press down; the spring loading helps you apply consistent pressure, prevents over-tamping, and allows for even distribution. While seasoned baristas may prefer a temper that’s not spring-loaded, this one is great for anyone who’s relatively new.It comes installed with the 25lb spring already installed, and there’s a spare 30lb and 15lb spring if you need to adjust. Hopefully this will last you for a long time, but over time the spring mechanism may wear out and need replacement. No word on where you can get replacement springs so when it wears out you may just have to get a new one (there are lots of compression springs on Amazon, but you’ll need to find and/or cut to the right size).Overall, a huge upgrade over the OEM; a little pricey but worth it if you’ll use it every day. Recommended for anyone who’s looking for better tamping pressure and may not quite have the touch yet for a precision solid tamper like one from IMS.

This will improve your espresso game.
I’ve become a fan of spring-loaded espresso tampers. Getting the proper pressure on your tamp is one more facet of pulling a good shot where you can achieve consistency rather than leaving it up to chance. This particular tamper is exceptionally well thought-out. I love that you have the ability to change your springs and adjust the pressure of your tamp from 15lbs, 25lbs, or 30lbs. So far I’ve adjusted my grind, time and technique to work with the default 30lb pressure tamp. I do think I’ll experiment with using slightly less pressure. The quality of this tamp is apparent the moment you touch it. It has a hefty weight, everything is finished properly and it does an incredible job. I’m very pleased to have this tamper in my espresso routine, and honestly don’t see any way they could improve this tamper. It does it’s job wonderfully.

    Quality Tamper But Wrong Size
I really wanted to like this tamper to make espresso on my Stilosa Espresso Machine by Delonghi. Sadly, the tamper is about 8 mm bigger than the one fitted for my espresso machine level cup holder. This particular tamper is 58 mm and the one for my espresso machine is 50 mm. Still, this tamper is a high quality product. It’s weighted and has a spring within the tamper that bounces back when you pack the espresso into the level cup holder. This tamper would be perfect… if it was the right size.Attached are images that compare the Tamithaet tamper and the plastic tamper that came with my espresso machine.Main Takeaway: The Tamitheat tamper is a very high quality tamper but make sure the 58 mm will fit your level cup holder.

No click, No problem. Just use your finger.
I’ve disassembled and reassembled this tamper a number of times. I’m impressed with the design, materials, fit, and finish. 5 stars for quality. If you look at the close-up photo of the brass core sleeve and bottom stud, you will see a slot with the locking pin. The length of that slot is the distance you can press before it “bottoms out,” and you risk tamping in excess of the spring strength. I measured that distance to be 13mm, which is about twice the distance of a normal tamp for me.I’ve found I can place a fingertip just under the handle and tamp until my finger touches the baffle to avoid bottoming out while still producing 30 pounds of pressure. The Tamithaet tamper should help me minimize tamping variations and be more consistent. The tamping plate guarantees a level tamp, and the spring will assist with proper pressure. Even though the tamper doesn’t click, I have no problem using my fingertip for an easy reference.

    Great Quality Tamp
This is a great tamper for the correct portafilter. I unfortunately did not measure, so it is a little small for mine, but still gives me a solid tamp after I move it around a little bit. It comes with an extra spring and tool to help replace the spring if it loosens. Works as expected and has a solid build. It is easy to use and has some weight to it. Overall I would recommend if you are looking for an assisted tamp.

    Very quality product.
Very solid tamper. It has a nice heft and smooth spring. It feels quality in the hand. The spring has two yields, one for a light tamper and a firmer one for when you need to stop. Now, granted, I only own a cheap, Mr. Coffee espresso machine. So, I am by no means a barista. Overall, it was easy to use, fit just right, and very easy to clean. The powder doesn’t even stick to it!

Great quality and love the adjustable pressure
I really like this tamper. It feels solid and well made, and the three different springs that come with it are a great touch. Being able to adjust the pressure makes it easier to get more consistent tamping without having to guess how hard you’re pressing. It fits well in the hand and has a nice weight to it. Overall, it’s been a great addition to my espresso setup and definitely helps with keeping shots more consistent. Happy with this one.

    Very sturdy and good quality
I just got an expresso machine and the tamper that is included with it did not seem very sturdy so I decided to try out this tamper. It is of great quality and work very well. It comes with three different springs that can be traded out to your desired pressure rating to make it more stiff or less stiff when compressing. The materials are very sturdy and the comes with a cover to keep the metal clean. Easy to use and clean had no problems using it from the get go.
