Nothing like being able to consistently control the coarseness of your salt and pepper.
Many years ago, I had a Chef’n Peppermill that was easy to adjust the coarseness and could crack enough pepper to use in dishes and/or a number of guests without spending time cranking on a typical “grinder” style mill.This mill is equal to or better than my beloved Chef’n mill.I bought one for salt and one for pepper. Many don’t realize how much setting the coarseness of a spice adds to the flavor of different foods. This mill is easy to fill, change the coarseness and use. You can even change out the type of spice relatively easily, without waste. The removable container allows the user to grind as much spice and they need before they need it so you are not grinding over a hot dish and you may prepare a measured about before putting a recipe together.The only down side is that the grinder is more or less a “rounded rectangle” shape and may be a little large for people with smaller hands or hand weakness. The side mounted crank is quite easy to use and makes fast work of course sea salt and peppercorns. Perhaps the company will take ergonomic considerations in future manufacture. Perhaps a slimmer profile and rubber grips for the non-grinding hand (it seems to be ambidextrous though).Hopefully the grinding apparatus will hold up to the use put it through. (it says it is ceramic so it should be durable). The only other part is the lever used to turn the grinder but there are few other moving parts.So far, I am very happy with both of the mills I bought.

Works and keeps on working.
It has become an amazement to me how hard it is to find a durable, well functioning pepper mill!! Iâve had 3 in four years!! I do use a lot of pepper, but come on!! This one is sturdy, and the adjustable grind holds where you place it. Itâs easy to fill and I got the transparent color so I could see when I was running out. Like I said, I use it a lot. Itâs easy on my carpel tunnel, and the little trough at the bottom makes it neat and easy to collect the pepper if you need to measure the amount. If this one breaks Iâll buy this again because Iâve been so happy with it.

Easy to use
I’ve always preferred the large wooden pepper grinders and avoided plastic in my house. However, it is undeniable that this devise is easier to use. It is simple to fill, the twist knob turns smoothly, and the catch cup is handy to get a sense of how much ground pepper is coming through. It is not pretty but very practical. I have used to to grind pepper and couse salt when I needed fine salt but was out. It is easy to use and to hold.

Easy to control and crank
So far I like this pepper mill. The shape makes it easy to hold firmly. The crank is big enough to get some leverage on it and that makes it not too hard to turn. I like that you can put the pepper in the clear cap, or remove the cap and let the pepper just fall onto the food.My main complaint about this product is that the clear plastic cap is pretty loose fitting. So far that hasn’t been a problem, but it feels like that could get looser or crack over time, and that would stink. So just be careful not to let it get damaged, because I don’t know if you could easily get that part replaced.Also, the size adjustment isn’t real intuitive. I need to play with that more, and maybe read the instructions. But it’s a pepper grinder. Should I really have to read instructions?

Best grinder
We inherited a Peppermate 20 years ago. It has lasted all this time. And we are heavy pepper users. It is a well designed, well built product. But after 20 years, it is time to retire it. I look forward to our new Peppermate outlasting us.

I first saw the Peppermate being used by Jacques Pepin in all of his at-home videos. I thought “if it’s good enough for him, it’s certainly good enough for me!”. I bought one for myself, then for Christmas bought one for each of my family members. The product is stellar — it’s the last pepper grinder you will ever buy. There’s no mess and it’s great for food prep (pre-grinding and knowing how much you’ve ground). They are great gifts too and I will be buying more.On top of that, the service is fantastic. My husband stupidly put the plastic tray in hot water to wash so it split and I needed a replacement, but because I live in Canada, the shipping cost would be 4x the cost of the replacement tray. At the last minute, I ended up travelling to the US on a short trip and reached out to Peppermate — they rushed a shipment across the country to me and were in communication with me the whole time. Thank you to Seth for taking care of me and my tray!

This pepper mill functions extremely well. The knob is easy to turn, it has a container to contain the droppings or you can sprinkle them directly in your food. I love that the grind can be adjusted as I find some grinds do not give a fine grind. This is perfect. It is also very easy to fill and has a lifetime warranty . I would consider buying a second one to use as a salt mill too. Also very attractive and I would easily have this at the table . Very happy with this purchase.

Bought this because Jacques Pepin uses one for pepper, thatâs the first one I got and now this one is for salt. There great because you can grind and it drops down into the bottom container and from there you can take what you need, tbsp, tsp, etc.
