Excellent especially for beginners
Thankfully I purchased this SCOBY first rather than the other brand on here that is about the same price.This SCOBY is Big, Thick and Powerful. It worked as advertised and is starting to produce babies.I got another SCOBY from another vendor (same price) and it was so inferior that if I had tried it first, I probably would have abandoned the Kombucha project all together. Instead I am using this SCOBY to rescue that batch!Recommended!!!

Reliable and hardy
I was a first time boocher and this scoby has produced 5 generations of delicious kombucha so far! Definitely can recommend. I’ve run the initial fermentation up to 16 days and there’s still no hint of “vinegar”.

SCOBY was not alive
I used this company last year to buy scobies for all of my Food Science groups as part of our fermentation unit. This year I decided to buy one my self to get some starter fluid going so we had plenty when we got to that lab. When the scoby arrived it had holes all through it. I didnât think much of it since the smell and color were fine, however after a week, there was no new growth on the top and a few specs of mold had started to grow showing no fermentation was taking place. I brewed kombucha for years, so I know how the process is supposed to work, and this scoby must have been dead/defective.

4 and not a 5 since it was not very active so may have been stored
Iâve been growing kombucha for decades, however the last few years I stopped and wanted to start up again. Kombucha scoobys are very hardy and can withstand quite a lot of abuse. As long as one follows the rules of hygiene and remembering to followhygiene rules. This one – um yes itâs active , but it has taken me a long while to get it as active as I want a fresh scooby is a lot quicker . Overall good but not great , but definitely after a week it ha created a think skin and Iâm sure in about 2/3 weeks Iâll have something that will be producing a fizzy kombucha from green sencha and granulated which sugar
