No more grounds in the coffee
I had to write a review. I usually don’t have time to write them, but I spend too much time reading them. I didn’t buy these for months because of some of the negative reviews and would have purchased the higher count option if I wasn’t worried because of some of the negative reviews.First, these are big and probably technically too big for a standard coffee maker. They say extra-large. Duh. I wish they were a tad smaller but if careful, they work as I expected them to which is much better than the standard ones. I actually spent a long time reading reviews of coffee makers (planning to replace a brand new one) because if I make 12cups, it overflows the filter and I have grounds in the coffee. I donât understand why they canât make filters to fit (and go to the top of) the basket. I donât know if it is a coffee maker problem or a filter problem, but these filters have fixed my problem. No more babysitting my coffee maker. I wet these filters and scrunch down the sides to prevent it from folding over on itself and causing grounds to overflow the filter. I do it wet since I can easily remove the basket, put the filter in the basket dry and then wet it a bit but these could also be scrunched down or maybe folded over the basket dry to prevent it from folding in on itself. Spending a few seconds extra to get it in the basket the right way does not take nearly the time I spent babysitting the coffee, turning the pot off and on over and over to get 12 cups with no grounds in it.One review said these are low quality, thin and waxy. They are coffee filters and meant to be thin. I did not find them âwaxyâ at all and they stood up to me scrunching them down wet to get them tucked into the filter basket, and I also dry them out and reuse in the bottom of my compost bin to make it easier to empty. No holes or ripping. Certainly, sturdy enough to function as a coffee filter.Other reviews said they had a soapy or chemical smell. They had no odor that I found. They smelled like any other filters I have purchased and did not change the taste of the coffee. They also were completely factory sealed; not sure what DIY shrink-wrapped is supposed to look like but these were packaged just fine.The only negative, is the cost. They are certainly more expensive than the standard ones. They are bigger, they will be more. So worth it to no longer have to babysit the coffee pot! The next time Iâm ordering 500!

After researching for an hour I’m glad I chose these
It’s hard to believe how much time went into researching coffee filters, but these were in fact the correct choice. Refer to other reviews regarding size. We were able (so far) to increase our number of tablespoons of grounds to 14. Some silt but not much (more than the bleached Safeway store ones which had none). We’re not finicky about that, it’s more important to reduce our chemical exposure and are very happy with this product. There was one review that said they were thin but that has not been our experience. I take the wet used grounds in the filter and walk them out and dump the whole thing on the lawn to add nitrogen. I can go back a couple days later to pick up the filter (it’s less messy when dry) and walk it to the yard-waste bin and the used filter is still thick and quite intact.I would have preferred multiple packages with smaller amounts totaling the 200 I got, but they layered the 200 one on top of the other so it’s bulky to store them and they are in a weird shape. The plastic container tears easily so you’ll need a gallon-size to seal them into to store.They’re taller than the 12 cup Mr. Coffee I was handed down and if I’m supposed to get 12 cups brewed in that machine it can’t be at a ratio of 2Tbs: 6 oz water so I don’t know what’s up with that. But these helped get another cup (14 Tbsp: 42 oz water) and might work for a bit more but on a course ground coffee it’s already pretty high up/ filled once the water hits it. They take a moment to press against the sides (dry) but hold their shape well.Yes, try them. Yes, they are oversized. No, they won’t tear.
