Sturdy and easy to clean. We pour the coffee into the filter and put it into the jar, wet the coffee grounds, and slowly fill the jar with cold water. Let sit for a day or two on the counter or in the fridge with a lid on it. We invert it or give it a shake when we think of it as we think it gets more flavour out of the coffee. Saved hundreds over Tim’s or Starbucks.

Water strains out quickly, so no fuss and WAY less mess than other methods (such as a coffee filter + strainer rig). To clean, I just use a bottle brush + a little soap, spray down well to remove all the soap after.

We wanted something to make our loose leaf sun tea experience easier, and these serve the purpose well. They do make the lid on one of the jars harder to out on, but they are quite worth it, and work well. It does slightly decease the flavor, but that is easy to make up for with a little extra time or tea.

I make a lot of cold brew. My filter from Modern Joe eventually broke (it was still vastly superior to the competitors), so I contacted customer service. I was delightfully surprised when they sent me this newer version, with super-thick mesh and reinforced welds at the bottom (where these filters usually break). This thing is a tank. And of course it filters great, too. Highly recommended!

The design and build will fail.
I purchased four of these filters from Amazon. Two have failed due to the top ring separating from the mesh body in a couple of years. This is due to the design and the way they are manufactured. The top ring is crimped to the mesh body of the filter. The top ring should be spot welded to the mesh body to prevent the filter from coming apart. I have noticed that others have had this problem. I have two other filters that are more conical in shape, they are spot welded at the top and they have not failed. If you want to only have the filter last a couple of years at best, then then buy it. Otherwise, I would recommend another product that has a better build.

I tried using my French Press and also just by putting the grounds into the jar and using a regular coffee filter when it is done.In both methods, I ultimately had to literally get my hands dirty by reaching in to clean out the grounds so I can dispose of it properly. I had thought about using the reusable cold brew bags, but felt that cleaning grounds out of fabric would be a bigger pain than this metal mesh cylinder.I had my reservations when buying this. I have a few 2 quart mason jars and this said it fit…but I read a review here that said it did not fit their jar. But from the photo…you can see it fits nicely.Making cold brew is the easy part…the only piece that should really concern people is the clean up of the item. In this case, I let the coffee drain out of the grounds and then shake out most of the grounds into the green bin. Then I take the cylinder outside to my back yard and hose it out. The remaining grounds can double as fertilizer in my lawn. No mess and no worries of grounds clogging my drain. This couldn’t be easier to clean. As for construction, it is not a flimsy mesh. It is actually sturdy enough, although you should not press on it…it WILL bend. One thing that was not mentioned is that it comes with a silicone ring that goes around the metal lip of the cylinder. I guess it is meant to make it a little more sealed with the jar…but I didn’t think I needed it since I am just putting it in the fridge…but it is a nice touch.

I looooove Cold Brew but because I used to work in a coffee shop I am extremely picky when it comes to coffee. I have tried different techniques and systems to make cold brew such as bodum or other filtration devices and this one is the best so far!! Plus, I have a ton of Mason jars so I can use them with this filter, no need to buy another carafe/container. The filter is well made and of good quality materials, the mesh is uuuuulltraa fine and the seal is 100% leakproof I tried it by shaking the jar up and down and keeping it upside down a few seconds – no leaks. For the cleaning part, very simple and easy, I used a spoon to empty the filter and then everything went into the dishwasher (top rack) and came out intact and perfectly clean. As for the final product – cold brewed coffee: it is exactly what I hoped for, good coffee concentrate (left for 24hrs in the fridge). No coffee grinds came through the filter – I used medium to coarse grounds. The taste depends on your beans and roast but I chose my coffee precisely for cold brew so the taste is perfect, it is delicious!!Overall, a good quality, simple and easy to use product that makes very good cold brew coffee.

Twice to brew cold brew coffee and to cold-brew tea. I think my only concern is that using the silicon ring makes lids hard to put on. But without it, it could leak. But that is only because the basket isn’t long enough for my jar and I brewed it upside down. So there was a bit of leaking, but it’s more of a user error. Regardless, it works great

Solid build quality. Attractive box. I appreciated the instructional guide and the silicone gasket that came with it. I will do some trial & error with/without the silicone gasket. First batch worked well with the gasket. Fit my 2 quart Ball mason jar perfectly. Made a great batch of 12-hour room temp cold brew Stumptown coffee (Holler Mountain), with 110g of coarse grounds. I will say that you shouldn’t expect to yield 2 quarts of coffee since the infuser and coffee grounds displaced roughly 14 ounces, yielding me 50 ounces or so. Easy to rinse and clean. Still not bad! Had a spare 2Q mason jar that will now see lots of use. I’m statisfied.

I bought this a the same time as another filter I found here on Amazon—trying to set myself up to make cold brew in Mason/Ball jars…or re-purposed Tassos olive jars from Costco. (The olive jars are just a hair more narrow in the mouth than the standard “wide-mouth” canning jars.) So I wasn’t sure which would work best. This 32 oz. filter was said to be 3.25″ wide, while the other was supposed to be 3.1″ wide.Turns out: these are the EXACT same product. The “TITA-DONG” item and this “ModernJoe’s” item are identical in every way: the dimensions, the quality & direction of the weave, the rim, the bottom, and even the removable gasket. All identical. This comes in a branded box; the other arrives, wrapped in shipping-grade plastic.I am super happy with the quality of this item. I am happy to be able to re-use the jars I already have rather than spend more money for delicate glass carafes that I have to handwash. The one disappointment I have is: the lid of my olive jars will not fit over this filter, while the jar is steeping in my refrigerator. (So, I’ll have to cover it with something else until the brewing is done.) That’s no ding against the filter; it doesn’t claim to be a OSFA solution. The 2-piece canning jar lids DO fit over this filter.
