I had been using a French press before buying this for my coffee and it is incredible how much more flavor can be had from a Chemex like this. All in all, it works great. The glass is a nice quality. It isn’t stained and I have made coffee in it a couple times everyday now for the week or so that I have had it. I also bumped the rim on a cabinet fairly hard one day and I was expecting catastrophe — to my surprise, this thing is pretty resilient. I was expecting it to be bigger but that is error on my part. It makes two cups perfectly and that’s enough for me so it worked out. Although, the marks on the side that say cups are off from what my cups are by quite a bit. This isn’t really that crucial though, I never refer to those lines. I wouldn’t care less if it didn’t have any lines. Another thing, I use normal coffee filters (like for a dripper) and they gurgle when you pour water over the coffee resulting in some spitting on the counter. I know these are probably not the proper filters but it’s what I have — just something to keep in mind. The wood and leather wrapping works great for keeping the heat off of your hand when you are pouring it. All in all, really glad I bought this. Best coffee I have ever drank has come from this.

This is an AWESOME little pour over! Got it in the mail today and I’m already in love with it. A few notes: Keep in mind, this pour over makes three VOLUMETRIC cups… not three coffee cups. It essentially makes one large mug of coffee. Other reviewers claimed the ones they received were plastic. Either they are mistaken or we got different products, which I doubt. The glass feels a little different (and the description does say it is a special kind of glass) but it is DEFINITELY not plastic. Overall, I am highly satisfied with the product and will be recommending it to my customers (I’m a barista) when they inquire about brewing coffee at home. It tastes substantially better than Keurig brewed coffee and doesn’t take much more time to make (especially if you have a Keurig and just run it without a coffee pod in it to quickly make hot water 😉). The best part is the asthetics of this product… it’s something you definitely won’t mind leaving out in plain sight.

I use it every morning, and get great tasting coffee from it. A perfect size for one mug. I will say that you need to be very careful with the carafe. It’s very thin glass and breaks easily. I’ve had to replace mine.

The product is good. The carafe was missing it’s collar so it was difficult to use, too hot to hold while pouring. Replacement had a defective sieve. Between the two shipments I received the three parts I originally ordered. Had to drive out of town to return. Was too much trouble for such a small, simple item. Product update: My original Mixpresso is good. However, I have since bought another this size and one larger coffee pot/filter. Both of the newer items chipped in the sink and I was VERY CAUTIOUS while washing them. Guess the company found a cheaper way to make the product. When will they learn it simply does not pay to be so cheap.

I’ve tried different coffee-making apparatus in the past, but this one tops them all.- Easy, straightforward process of preparing the coffee, making it a bit of a special “ceremony” of sorts to brew your liquid delight;- Nothing excessive, good for the environment (natural materials). The wooden “collar” is a perfect protection from the heat of the glass when pouring the coffee out, and the leather strap is a nice addition, tying things together (literally);- It’s SO COMFORTABLE & hassle-free! Just compost the filter (& its contents), rinse the coffee-maker thingy & enjoy your warm cup of divinity;- Safely packed & includes an informative guideline to first-time users such as myself. I was a bit concerned to receive a broken parcel as it seems to be a quite delicate glass material > after receiving it, all worries subsided as the courier could have played football with the box if they wanted to, the coffee-maker was well secured and completely unharmed; And, last but not least:- It’s beautiful > A nice addition on the countertop. I’m not a fan of multiple electrical appliances in the kitchen, so it is a perfect fit to the rustic earthy feel I got going there. Next best bet would be a science-lab themed kitchen, but I’m sure it gives a charming accent to any coffee-lover’s special space between the kettle & selection of blends. The hardest thing for me now is not to overdose from coffee, I guess..All-in-all a 10/10 purchase, definitely recommend.

I like the design.

The coffee is excellent.I was getting tired of the cost and waste of my pod machine. This is a great, simple and attractive alternative. This chemex will also fit in the cup spot of your pod machine and be done in 2 minutes. I use two cycles of the tassimo hot water disk that comes with the machine; the only thing is you need to move the chemex around a bit at first to wet the grinds. For K machines, use the hot water cycle and move around a bit when at first to wet the grinds.

But I still love it. Perfect for a mug full, and alittle left over for a top up. 😁

This is a wonderful coffee maker and costs about 38% of the cost of a same-capacity Chemex. The unit is well-designed, is well-made, and the wooden collar is securely fastened in place with a leather thong & wooden ball. A #2 paper filter fits perfectly. Some of the reviewers call this a “one-cup” brewing system. Well, that depends on what a person means by “cup;” calling it a “one generous mugfull” brewing system would be more accurate. The unit will easily brew (the marking is on the side, in milliliters, up to 400 ml of coffee (= 13.5 ounces of coffee). Note that when brewing, one adds more water than the amount of coffee expected to be produced: e.g., for me, 300 ml. water makes about 250 ml. coffee). For me, one problem in brewing by the Pour Over method (compared to drip-coffee-machine or to French press) is that the pour-over coffee tends to lose a lot of heat in the brewing process. Not necessarily so with this unit. I use the same brewing procedure I used with my Chemex; I place the unit in a saucepan with about an inch of boiling water, turn the heat to lowest, and do my coffee brewing. He hot-water bath keeps the coffee quite hot. When the brewing is completed, I pour the coffee into an insulated container and pour my coffee into a cup from that. I drink my coffee black, but it I were to add milk or cream, I would do my mixing other than pouring the milk/cream into the Mixpresso. The unit is easy to clean out after coffee-only (a sudsy swirl, then rinse), but would not be so easy after milk/cream because using a brush would probably be advisable. I chose this brand, Mixpresso (as opposed to, say, a Bodum), because the user comments for other brands commented on the fragility of the unit. I have no reason to think that the Mixpresso unit is more fragile than the inherent fragility involved with any kitchen object made of glass. Stainless steel, it ain’t, in other words.
