TLDR: Buy it. It works well, it has impressive and useful features, it looks great, itâs thin/low-profile, and itâs a great price.Detailed review: Iâm very happy with this scale, and it has certainly upped my espresso game by leaps and bounds. Iâm able to weigh my beans very precisely down to a tenth of a gram (roughly the weight of a single bean), so my dosing is on point. Also, it fits beneath the portafilter with room to spare for my cup, so I can weigh my shots and accurately measure my input/output ratio. And automatic mode is magic! When the espresso hits the cup, the timer starts running, so I can measure flow rate along with everything else! Overall, super easy to use and very necessary for the at-home barista.One caveat: It acted weird on the 2nd or 3rd day, and I thought I was going to have to return it. The weight would slowly creep up even though I wasnât adding any coffee. I dusted it off, made sure it was dry, set it on a more stable surface⦠I still donât know what the matter was, but it stopped freaking out and it hasnât really given me any trouble since. Also, I should mention that the automatic function doesnât always work 100% perfectly; it works, and usually works quite well, but depending on the flow rate, you might get some drops dribbling into the cup and the timer not detect it right away. (I think the timer must be activated according to some sort of algorithm that looks for a certain increase in a certain amount of time, so a slower initial drip rate might not trigger it at first.) Also weirdly, it seems like about half of the time when the weight stops increasing (i.e., espresso stops flowing) , the timer pauses (as I think itâs supposed to do), but other times, the timer keeps running until you manually stop it. I donât know⦠Itâs a weird glitch, I guess, but it doesnât really make any difference. The weight is accurate, and thatâs the primary thing to keep an eye on.So, is it perfect? No, I guess not. But, it works extremely well and functions perfectly for my purposes. In fact, itâs a lot nicer and fancier than I expected â plus, itâs more affordable and more streamlined than its obvious rival the Acacia.

Great little scale
My previous scale always gave me problems when trying to charge. Sometimes it would sometimes it wouldn’t. It was infuriating! This one works 100%. Very accurate, quick charging, nice readout display.

Everything works well, and the readout is quick and responsive.1. The manual clearly describes how to shut off the beep, and once you do that, the setting persists.2. The readout of the weight responds quickly. It does not have the lag of most inexpensive scales.3. The capacitive controls are very responsive.4. The timer button lets you start and stop and continue the timer easily. You double tap to reset it.5. The scale feels sturdy and the silicon mat is thick.6. The matte surface on the scale makes it very resistant to scratches.It is big enough to hold a coffee cup for a pourover and still have the readout clearly visible. However, a carafe larger than a standard coffee cup might be too large.I have not tried any of the auto features.Overall, it’s excellent and works well with no annoyances. It’s also small, light, and easy to clean.

Recommended for use as scale and manual timer
I like its small size, and weight sensitivity. It’s a bit wonky when trying to set the tare to zero, as I usually end up shutting it off. This is because the tare reset and on/off function are on the same button and respond to either a short duration press (tare reset) or long duration press (on/off). Thing is, the short duration press frequently doesn’t respond to my touch.The scale can be used to measure oz./ml/grams. I’ve never really understood why anyone bothers to put milliliters on a scale since it’s a measure of volume not weight, and the readings are identical!The stand-alone timer function works okay, but the timer/volume function (generally for use during espresso shots) I found just about impossible to use, so I don’t. I’d always end up resetting it accidentally, or the timer would start before I intended it to. I’m not saying it won’t work, I’m saying it’s not worth my struggle. Additionally the unit is supplied with a silicon pad to lay over the top of the scale which is suggested for use as a heat insulator. Although it’s only about â ” (3 mm) thick, it adds to the overall height of the unit when measuring espresso shots. I measured the total height with the silicon pad in place at just tad over 13/16″ (I’ll say .820 or just about 21 mm).So in the end I find it to be:Reasonably pricedDecent qualityUseful for weighing coffeeUseful for timing and measuring coffee pour oversUseful manual timerBuilt-in battery charges quickly and lasts between chargesEasy to read digital readoutAppears to be sealed well from dirt and moisture (though I wouldn’t ever submerse it)I’d buy it again, but look for a unit with a little less height and a bit more usability for timing/measuring espresso shots. Works Like a Charm
This scale is great for my espresso making. The timer is straightforward, the scale is dead on. I was a little concerned about the mini size, but it holds my open basket portafilter and large coffee cups just fine while allowing a view of the weight readout. The mini size is terrific for use for pulling the shot – it fits under the Porta filter with a cup so I can tare and weigh straight in. I haven’t tried the automatic settings.

Iâve been looking at food scales for a while and since I love coffee, I decided to order this one with the coffee timer feature. While Iâm still learning how to use the coffee timer features, it works amazingly as a basic food scale.The scale comes in a small cardboard box. Inside the box is a piece of protective foam and underneath it is the scale, a silicone pad, and a USB C to USB A cable for charging. The first thing I did was charge it up fully using the cable and a charging block I already had at home. It didnât take long to charge up fully and when it did, the battery indicator on the display stopped flashing.Next to the USB C charging port is an on/off switch that goes left and right. This is the main switch to get the scale working. Once you have it turned on, the touch sensitive power/zero button on the right side of the display and the timer button on the left side work all the features. I didnât use the silicone pad for my first test as itâs only required when youâre putting something really hot like boiling water in a cup on the scale surface.I decided to try a few tests using a plastic measuring cup and after putting it down and taking it off several times the results were the same, so it seems to be consistent in its accuracy. I then used the âzeroâ button to nullify the weight of the cup and added some food inside. The scale registered the food (without the initial weight of the cup) and would respond quickly as I added and removed food from the cup. I also tested the timer features for espresso and pour-over coffee and while I didnât have a firm understanding of how to use it, the timer features did work as stated in the manual and I feel like I just need to learn more about it.Overall, this is a great coffee/food scale and even if I donât understand the timer features yet Iâm more than happy with it as a basic food scale. If anything, it’s encouraged me to learn how to make pour-over coffee and espressos using the timer feature. If youâre looking for a great food scale with the additional bonus of a coffee timer, I highly recommend this one!
