Full disclosure, I’ve had this coffee machine for less than 24 hours. I noticed when I was purchasing, it had no reviews, however, so I want to add mine in case anyone else is hesitant to buy something without reviews (which normally I am!)It had been a few years since I’ve actually had a coffee “machine.” I’ve had a Melitta pour-over for the past few years, and that’s been all I needed, but with my significant other moving in, it was time for a higher capacity upgrade so we could chug our morning coffee without all the cup-by-cup brewing. In the past I’d had cheap, simple, basic coffee makers, because although I do appreciate a good quality brew, I would not consider myself a coffee snob by any means.After spending time browsing the machines in lower price ranges, I wasn’t very impressed. I also didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars for a machine which is supposed to save me money vs. getting my coffee to-go. I decided to see if Melitta made anything more than the little pour-overs I was used to. I came across the AromaEnhance, and was scared off by the lack of reviews, but scoured the internet and did find some reviews elsewhere, which were overwhelmingly positive. I really liked the looks and features of this model, so I decided to bite the bullet and order.It arrived quickly and was packaged very nicely. I followed the instructions to clean, and run water through to get rid of any plastic taste. It says to run water through 3x, but I found once was sufficient in my case (I’m impatient!) It came with some free Melitta #4 filters, which are the best filters, in my opinion. That was a nice touch, especially for those who are not familiar with the cone vs. basket filters. I quickly went to brewing my first carafe-full, after setting my aroma selector dial nearly all the way to strong, and I had 6 cups of delicious coffee in just a few minutes. It stayed hot for at least 30 minutes, and warm for hours.Things I really like are the overall appearance of the machine – very nice looking, and well-built, the quietness of the machine – no beeping and very little noise while brewing, the ability to set it to brew my coffee in the morning so it’s ready when I wake up, and the carafe which keeps the coffee a nice hot temperature so I can enjoy a 2nd (or 3rd) cup later on vs. a warming plate which scalds the coffee and is a waste of energy. My only (very small) gripes are that the carafe’s design nearly requires you to hold it completely upside-down to get the last bit of coffee out – which also may make pouring water in to fill the machine tricky if you use the carafe, and the carafe lid screws on, which is actually great, but for some reason mine tends to take a couple tries to screw it on ‘straight.’ These are very minor quirks, and it’s entirely possible that I just have bad hand-eye coordination, but overall, I’m very satisified with the Melitta AromaEnhance. I will update this review if I have any issues in the coming weeks/months, but so far, so good!

Great coffee maker. I’ve finally found a good one.
This is a great drip coffee maker and I’m so RELIEVED this one is working. I’ve owned a lot of drip makers and each one the coffee has been terrible. Melitta is a German company and the design of the coffee maker is really nice and sleek. The coffee will only be so hot for so long, keep in mind that the plate the stainless steel pot sits on is plastic and does NOT heat up. So the coffee is being kept warm within the stainless pot only. If you need super scorching hot coffee for 2 hours, good luck finding a maker that gives you that – or just stick it in the microwave for 30 seconds. I actually prefer the coffee is not sitting on a heated plate because it just burns it and ruins the flavor. I also like how the top of maker opens by a push of a button and it’s all open in there – so it’s easy to air out and wipe down if you need to. I leave the lid open after brewing so everything can dry and air out. The look of the maker is super nice too. I got the white and it’s just a really attractive looking design sitting on the kitchen counter. Coffee is tasting smooth too, I’m not getting any of that bitter weird taste. I am using really good quality ground coffee but with prior makers, that made no difference. With this machine I really am happy overall. Thank you Melitta for a great product.

Well, it says the tmperature is 198 degrees for perfect brewing. Our temperature readings were at best 179 degrees. SO , a little temperature being off isn’t too bad. They should have just left that part out. The strength setting really does work. And it’s sensitive. Very noticable. Good job on that. The MAIN thing that disgusted me, I’ll tell you. There’s a little circular opening around the top of the lid that goes from the basket to the lid. I’m assuming its to ‘let the aroma out’. No other coffee machine i’ve seen has it. If you decide to prepare your coffee at night so you can press the button in the morning to start making coffee, lift the lid first to check for anything that might have gotten in the basket, such as stinkbugs. If you have your coffee and later in the day, go to clean your filter and see a boiled to death stinkbug, you’ll want to throw up. Clean up is horrible. Coffee splatters everywhere in this machine. The lid, under the removable basket (not sure how, but since the machine is white, it’s REAL easy to see coffee), in the previously mention circular aroma slot (very difficult to clean), where the coffee mug sits (coffee splatters on mug lid. Basically, buy a white coffee machine on you’ll see. . Aside from the ill-planned opening for bug access, sloppy clean up, lying about temperature, it’s a nice little coffee maker. But over priced for what it thinks it delivers. Makes me wonder if the other ‘reviewers’ clean their machines or actually ‘test’ the claims. Or just review on day one of purchase. (good machine and great coffee (lol)) I’ve waited for 2 months to leave review…..I would not recommend or consider buying again.
