Not the best quality
This is a nice set for beginners and a good value overall. However, the chasen (bamboo wisk) that comes with this set is very poor quality. I properly bloomed it & softened it in hot water before each use & after less than 5 uses it began to shed little splinters. The chawan (ceramic bowl) is a pretty, a good size, & shape that makes it easy throughly wisk & get a decent microfoam. The pour spout on the chawan makes it easier to pour from. I like that the set comes with a bamboo scoop & a sifter to help measure out & remove any clumps from my matcha before wisking. I also like that the set comes with a chasen-tate (bamboo wisk stand) to help prolong the shape & life of your chasen. Too bad that the chasen itself is such low quality. I definitely recommend buying one that is better quality if you plan to make matcha even semi-regularly. Besides the issues with the chasen splintering, this is a good, functional set for a beginner & all the other components of this set should hold up great over time as long as they are properly cares for. Remember to only rinse your bamboo scoop & chasen with water & never use soap!

I’ve become a bit of a Matcha connoisseur lately.This set is really quite well made and pleasing to the eye.The ceramic glaze is quite smooth and very artisanal looking like it was hand made.The whisk is pretty durable. Make sure you are using the stand to dry it out.If you use a good brand of Matcha, you really don’t need the strainer, but it is useful if you have clumpy matcha.A very good gift for your gourmet recipient.

I am a long time Matcha lover. Always have been. I absolutely love making Matcha lattes for myself and my husband. Preparing Matcha the correct way does take some practice and is considered a skill. However, it does not have to be difficult if you have the correct tools on hand.This set is excellent to have or to give as a gift.It’s made of quality materials and includes everything you need to make a good cup of matcha tea. All you need is some good matcha powder and hot water and you’re ready to go.I like that it includes a little spatula to measure out the matcha.The mini sifter is very helpful and makes for a smoother tea as it creates a finer powder.The ceramic bowl has a little spout to make for an easy, spill-proof pour into your mug.The most important tool in this kit is of course, the traditional bamboo whisk. This is essential to a good cup of matcha as it breaks down and whisks up the matcha in with the hot water.I like that it also comes with a whisk holder to help prolong the bamboo whisks life.Back in the day, I only ever used the bamboo whisk and was still able to enjoy my matcha. However, these additional tools included in this set has significantly improved my experience with Matcha as a whole.Our favourite Matcha Latte recipe:-In a ceramic bowl, add a serving of Matcha (usually 1-2 teaspoons/scoops) and pour approximately 1/4 cup of boiling water.-Using your bamboo whisk, mix using a zig-zag motion until the Matcha is well mixed and frothy. This usually takes about 20 seconds.-Add about 1 tablespoon (or to taste) of sugar and mix it inn with the spatula or spoon.-Heat up 1 to 1.5 cups of milk, either on the stovetop or microwave.-Take a regular metal whisk or if you’re fancy, an electric milk frother. Whisk the hot milk until frothy and bubbly.-While pouring the milk into the Matcha, use a spoon to stop/hold the froth. This will allow the milk to pour in first. Now, let the froth go and allow it to sit on the very top of your Matcha Latte.-ENJOY!
