This is a fine piece of gear for hand grinding coffee to the perfect grain size for any type of brewing method, from fine ground for espresso to coarse ground for french drip, and everything in between Whether you’re camping, or living the log cabin lifestyle, or even after the apocalypse you can still enjoy a civilized cup of joe with this hand grinder. There’s a dial with numbered settings for adjusting the grind, and a nice storage/carrying case. The main body of this coffee grinder almost looks like one of those expensive camera lenses. This would make a great gift for the rugged type, or perhaps a wise addition to your bug out bag or camping/survival gear. I mean we can survive without coffee, but who would want to?

Perfect
Exactly what i was looking for. I use this when we go camping or when i get gifted nice coffee beans to use in my French Press. Grinder is sharp and cranks easily with no real strain. The brush it comes with is nice to help clean the grinder and the storage crash is a nice touch and keeps everything protected when we pack up and go. Highly recommend this product.

Excellent Coffee Grinder
The DACLL coffee grinder is a great grinder for home use. The coffee grinder is easy to use and straight forward customizable.The numerical settings around the grinder is for you to choose which grind you would like, from finest to coarsest. I use the grinder to make espresso specifically so for me I always choose the finest setting.The grinder like all grinders require some elbow grease to get the job done, but the whole process takes a matter of seconds. Freshly ground coffee gives the best tasting coffee so for me that effort is well worth it.The grinder is easy to take apart for cleaning.Included with the product is a travel kit, making it easier to take it places and for storage.

Poor Quality
The build is not that great, the steps between sizes are not very precise and the grind is not even because the burr doesn’t spin evenly. This is the second one I’ve received after returning the first, wanting to give it a chance. Better off getting something else.

Built Like A Tank
I picked up this grinder for my camping kit to see if I would prefer my Aeropress instead of my normal instant coffee. I am impressed with the build quality of the unit, it is solid primarily made of stainless and aluminum. It comes in a nice case and includes the Allen wrench to dismantle it and a cleaning brush.More impressive is the way this grinder chews through the beans. To say it is efficient is an understatement. My other hand grinder takes over two minutes to clear the hopper while this does it in under a minute (45 seconds on last grind) with a pretty (not totally) consistent grind.Like all of these you will be grinding for one cup in Aeropress or a double shot of espresso so it wonât replace your home grinder but for its intended use I would call this a real winner!On the downside the instructions included are pretty much useless and the QR codes they include for website and warranty registration simply don’t work. Adjusting the grind is not nearly as smooth as I would like with rotating the adjuster a bit difficult but I hope this loosens up over time. The warranty is 30 days but they will fix for free for 18 months (huh?) so with this I think you pay for build quality but not for customer service-if you want both it looks like $160 is the point of entry for a VSSL.

Great Quality Components, Easy to Use, saves our cats lives, but low capacity
The DACLL Manual Coffee Grinder is well designed with quality materials. Grinding capacity of 30 grams is fine for one cup, which takes about 21 cranks at mid-level fineness.On the island of Kauai, we’ve been growing our own coffee (Photo) for about 30 years, during which we have used various electric grinders with both ceramic and stainless steel burrs to brew about nine 6-oz cups/day. Our production process entails soaking and peeling freshly picked beans before drying for a few days in the sun, then storing in batches of several pounds each. About twice a month, we roast about 1-½ pounds of dried green beans just past first crack (see Photo), then store for grinding just before brewing.Our previous semi-commercial brewing machine included its own grinder on a timer, which served as our alarm clock. Unfortunately, when we adopted two cats, they both suffered epileptic seizures triggered by the grinder, so we had to replace it with a stand-alone ultra quiet Swiss grinding machine.Because of its small capacity, the DACLL now serves as our backup grinder to the Swiss machine, as it is the quietest solution of all. For brewing just one or two cups, the DACLL is ideal, although manually grinding more than that takes too long.At the current price, the DACLL is a bit expensive (and hence the four star rating), although it is comforting to have a reliable manual backup for the eventual failure of the electric grinder, most of which have failed us in the past.
