The grinder has a nice solid weight and you can tell it’s a solid tool when held. The blade inside is conical and seems well built. I can’t believe the quality for the price. The grinder itself is very easy to turn and you can get a full 2 shots worth of espresso ground in about 30 seconds… Not bad at all.NOTE that a lot of more expensive grinders advertise they can do Turkish grins (which is a very, very fine grind). Well, on my first grind attempt, I ground my beans into a powder, like the consistency of powdered sugar. It was actually so fine that the espresso machine couldn’t push water through. Clogged the thing up. I had to start over again with a less fine grind setting on the grinder… So this little grinder can basically do anything! =) Using it will be a little bit of trial and error to get the setting you like.

Not great portability.
This coffee grinder is compact and appears to be well built with good quality materials. The burr is made of metal (probably stainless steel). The grinding mechanism has a graduation (1 to 10), but the zeroing is not calibrated to match the “0” or “1”. In my case the position that locks the bur is at “4”. So, following the recommendations on the manual not to grind below “2”, I had to dial it to “6” and begin there the process to find the right size for grinding the coffee beans I am using. The capacity of the coffee beans gives enough room to grind enough coffee for one cup. The ground coffee is smooth and evenly powdered.I can’t say this grinder is very portable. The handle separates from the body, but the handle has 2 big pieces on each side that makes it odd to carry. For the kit, it would have been a nice touch to get a pouch to store the grinder and cleaning brush.About the cleaning brush, it is a small brush with very soft hairs. It cleans softly and cleanly.

The adjustment mechanism is a poorly designed 3-prong nut versus the 2-prong pictured. The adjustment notches etal are inferior to the pictured design. Returned item for the Nzodo item. (Be aware, both items have poorly designed, loose-fitting handles)

I ordered this because there’s nothing like fresh ground coffee. One thing to note*the dial does not match the instruction manual, so you have to dialed it up and down till you get what you want. I’ve never used a manual grinders, so I had to play with it a bit to get my desired grind. Clockwise/fine, Counter-clockwise/coarse. The grinder feels heavy and durable. It grinds beautifully, from expresso to very coarse. It cleans up easily with the little included brush. I’m loving it.

This grinder is pretty nice. The good is that the knurling is plenty grippy. When I grind the aluminum body doesn’t move in my hand. No need for added silicone grips for this grinder. The supports for the drive shaft mean that the blade doesn’t wobble and generate a tone of fines and boulders, instead the grind is pretty consistent. It will hold a fair amount of beans in the top hopper- roughly 30g, but the chamber for the grinds is smaller than that, so the grinds get compacted in the grind chamber which means a lot of tapping to get those grinds out. Which can make a mess if you aren’t spritzing the beans first. It is easy to grind the beans too- even on the smaller grind settings. The handle is long and the grip is large, which makes for easier rotation.Setting the grind size is a bit fiddly just like with any grinder like this- it always takes a bit of tweaking to get the right grind size. I add just by tightening it until it won’t tighten any longer and then opening it up by 4 steps at a time and testing it out with a bean that’s not my fave. I then adjust from there. There are a LOT of steps built into this grinder’s adjustment knobs. By 4 steps I mean the labeled numbers. The good thing about the MANY extra clicks is that you can really dial in a grind for a particular mean and brew method. This grinder will also grind extremely fine, my espresso machine died and untimely death, but this would definitely do a grind fine enough for espresso. The major downsides of this grinder are that the bushings and bearings are not protected well from the coffee grinds- small particles of coffee can definitely get in there and much things up. The final downside is that the cap and handle are very loose and fall off easily. This means that if I am adjusting the grind I have to hold my hand over the lid to keep it in place. It doesn’t lock into place. This also means that the handle wobbles quite a bit as I grind. Annoying. I am going to “adjust” this with some aluminum tape on a couple of sides of the pin to see if that will lock it in place.Overall a pretty nice grinder with a little nagging annoyance in tolerances.

The grinder works great once you find out how to adjust the grind settings. I have had to completely close the setting adjust the settings to get an accurate grind. The numbers for coarse and fine are pretty useless to follow since you can turn it to a particular setting multiple times.

This grinder compares favorably with a well known grinder I bought for more than twice the current price of this grinder. Physically they are very similar except that this one has a textured body, longer handle and larger knob – all of which make it easier to turn/grind. I don’t brew espresso, but it quickly and easily grinds on the fine end of the spectrum for Aeropress. Grinding for pourover would be much easier and faster. I tried the finest grind setting and the results were impressive, but it took a very long time to grind the full dose (same as my existing grinder). I tried those fine grounds in my Aeropress and, as expected, they were so fine that I couldn’t complete the plunge. My intention was to use this grinder at our vacation home, but instead I will use my old one there and keep this one at home for easier grinding.
