Badass lil grinder
Cheap lil portable coffee grinder. Packs up well, although it’s noisy if you don’t add some type of cotton balls/paper towel to keep it from rattling around I your pack. Should last a while with careful use. Probably wouldn’t last long if given the ogre treatment though, so take care.I mostly leave this on the max coarse setting & use it with a French press & it makes phenomenal coffee. I also dig the pour-over filter, but it rarely gets used.Brought this gig canoe camping & everyone else drinking instant coffee was immediately jealous. Two friends immediately ordered it after watching it in action.

Pretty well made for the price, concerned about the ceramic burs though
The one issue I can find with this kit is that the ceramic burs don’t quite line up the same way my steel burr hand grinders typically do. My steel burs can line up exactly inside of eachother, but these seem to need a comparatively larger gap to keep them from grind against eachother. They also needed a much larger gap to grind at similar sizes to my steel burr grinders. I’m not sure if this can actually happen, but I’m worried about the possibility I might set it too fine and shave bits of the ceramic burr off and into my coffee grinds. The plastic arms that hold the bur’s shaft could also have been designed better, as it gives more wiggle room for rotating burr than I’d like.Other than that, the kit works reasonably well for only $19.99. It feels much sturdier than I expected, even the lid that stops beans from launching out while grinding is not as flimsy as I thought it would be. There are a lot of plastic parts, but the grind shaft, spring, washer, and grind handle are metal, where it counts the most. The burr adjustment knob and the plate that holds the burr in place is plastic though. The cups screw nicely onto the grinder body and hold together pretty well. The handle seems able to fold up and fit inside one of the cups without being detached. The bag the kit comes with is also nice and soft feeling, I expected it just top be a thin fabric but this feels better than pull tie bags Ive gotten with other products.I was able to get a pretty consistent medium grind size and it didnt need an absurd amount of force or cranking. I did need to dump out some fines that made it past the metal filter, but it did keep most of the grinds out of the cup after pouring hot water in. It was a bit slow to filter the medium grind though, I suspect if you want a faster brew you will need to go a bit coarse. The filter sits in the cup kind of low and limits how much water you can pour in, while also blocking a bit of your view and making it harder to see how much water is actually in the cup. I wish it stood taller so you could see in better and let more water drip into the cup.Cleaning seems relatively easy too. This gives you plenty of room to reach in the grinder portion and brush the old grinds out. The ceramic burr is also washable, unlike metal burs which can rust. Since this is designed to go on camping trips, it makes it much easier to disassemble and wash, just be very careful not to lose track of the pieces, especially the tiny washer.You can probably get a similar and better kit for double the price, but so far I’m happy with what this gives you for 20 bucks.

The coffee ground is coarse.It works better to boil the ground coffeethen use the strainer after.rather than pouringthe hot water with the coffee in the strainer.can get messy because the plastic strainer gets hot .overall, I like the versatility.
