Excellent well-made, smooth functioning coffee grinder. The stainless steel is attractive and sturdy.
Grind settings are accurate, easy to identify at a glance, and do not shift while in use as I have experienced with other grinders that have no visual marker and use “click” method, leaving one in doubt as to what setting is in use. I used the grinder virtually every day for 22 months with no issues until I dropped it on the tile floor and broke the glass. I reached out Customer service and they were very responsive and helpful in supporting me.

If you are looking for a manual grinder this is the one and worth the price. It is easy to use and very durable. The ability to change the grind size is wonderful if you make different kinds of coffee, the 6 is perfect for a French press and the 1 is great for espresso! I dropped mine on tile after a long sleepless baby night and it still works! If on the off chance you have any trouble, Vivaant has the Best customer service! They will go above and beyond to help you. 10/10 and 100% recommend!

Beautifully crafted grinder with consistent and efficient grind that’s a pleasure to use; grinding is nearly effortless due to long handle that stays firmly seated on shaft and grinds fast due to efficient burr design. Seemed like it took less than a minute to grind a hopper full of beans (~32 grams) on #4 setting which is good for pour-over; considerably faster than my Hario. I haven’t timed the other settings, but a finer grind will take longer.
I upgraded from my reliable Hario Coffee Mill Slim that I purchased over 9 years ago. The Vivaant grinder is superior in almost every way . . . craftmanship, efficiency, and ease of use. Hario is more durable due to plastic housing, is easy to completely disassemble with no tools for thorough cleaning, and has ceramic blades which aren’t as sharp initially but hold their edge longer. With the Vivaant, the blades are metal that can dull over time (a long time), could potentially rust (seems unlikely), and only the bottom burr can easily be removed without special tools. I suppose being able to completely disassemble doesn’t matter, but frankly moisture being trapped in the grinder after cleaning with soapy water is a concern for me; instructions say to remove hidden moisture with a hair dryer.
The potential minor shortcomings are not a concern because Vivaant is backed by a lifetime warranty and superb customer service; Nancy was quick to respond to my email, went out of her way to address a price drop I noticed a few days after purchase, and she re-iterated their lifetime warranty if anything happens to my grinder or if the performance changes. Truly top notch product and company.
You can’t go wrong with either grinder, if you want cheap and durable, get the Hario Slim, but if you want a quality grinder that’s a pleasure to use every morning, and backed by customer satisfaction guarantee, this is the one for you! The product and packaging are true Apple quality, so a fantastic gift idea for the coffee enthusiast in your life.

This grinder is worth every penny. I swear it makes my usual coffee beans taste better when ground in number six, the coarsest grind, for my french press coffee maker. I suppose I must attribute that to the fact that as an adjustable conical burr grinder, each particulate of coffee drops down more or less in a uniform size, rather than more random with the electric blade grinder I used to use. Never more to use, though. I fill the top compartment up completely with coffee beans, then force the grinding top down upon the beans and start grinding. And that almost fills up the glass container. Than quantity, with glass jar completely filled becomes exactly 4 ounces, or one half of a cup. The glass jar works great so that one can see exactly how much coffee has been ground up. The danger, though, is that, if dropped, it might break. I dropped mine and the glass jar broke. But, all is not lost because, thankfully, when I started using the marvelous grinder I took the time to experiment and discover the glass jar capacity when filled to capacity with coffee beans. I sent an email to the Vivaant store asking to purchase another jar, hoping that is a possibility. But, if not, I’ll just grind away directly into my french press-but carefully. Breaking the jar was my fault. The jar needs to be glass so as to be able to see the contents. I just needed to be more careful. So I still rated my new grinder at five stars. And I would give it more if I could. IT’S WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!
Additional updte:
Vivaant contacted me and offered a replacement jar without the measurement markings, that they had and offered to sens it to me. They answered my email the very day I sent it off. So, how was that for customer service? They are trying to set up the way to order replacement glass jars and I suppose they will one day become available for the fumble fingered among us to order replacements for our broken jars. I keep using the grinder without the jar, just keeping the bottom of the grinder inside my french press to collect the ground beans. But it is not as easy to do, although doable. However, even under less than ideal conditions the grinder still really works well. I’m still impressed!
Second Additional update:
I’ve been using it now for a couple of months and it still functions flawlessly for me. Even though I still have the glass jar I no longer use it. I bypass it and grind without it. Since I know how much coffee results from grinding a full load of coffee beans, I just load it, hold it tightly over my stainless french press and grind away. I admit occasionally I must shake it sightly to keep the beans against the burr grinder but it works so well otherwise it is just a minor inconvenience. When the load is finished, I open it and toss it some more beans to give my mixture a slightly stronger brew, and grind them into the press as well. I did not even need the glass jar. I no longer even use it. What an amazing grinder! It still looks brand new. So, “YES”, IT’S WORTH EVERY PENNY I spent for it! I threw away the electric grinder I had as I know I’ll never use it again.

I have fallen in love with this coffee grinder. First, it is solid and attractive. Secondly, you don’t have to take it apart to adjust the grind. Very easy to use and accurate. Thirdly, you can see the type of grind in the container as it grinds. Well worth the investment. Thank you for making my coffee time enjoyable! I highly recommend if you want an accurate and easy way to grind your own beans!

It does a perfect job every time and is so nice and compact. It would fit in any luggage also for those traveling light and want to enjoy a fresh ground coffee where ever they are. Well made and excellent value!

But does a good job.
