I have storage sets that have held up over 30 years that are very similar to this set by Laminet. So I was interested to see how the quality of the containers would compare. Laminet did well, especially for the price point. The containers are made from 2 layers of fairly strong plastic material that are “quilted” together. The zippers in my old containers are metal while the Laminet zippers are sturdy nylon and inserted very well. They move well around corners and I feel confident in their durability. Some reviewers wish that the containers had cardboard inserts in the bottoms and handles. I prefer to line my containers with small bubble wrap so that I can carry the filled container and maintain contact with the china when I move it. Furthermore, even a stack of 12 china saucers is heavy and I would not trust any sewn-on handles. The set contains foam inserts (such as moving companies use) to place between plates, but they are really only a size useful for saucers. You can fit 12 plates into each piece and I was able to “fit” 2 turkey platters into the platter case. My traditional coffee cups measure 4.5″ including handles. I wrapped them in moving foam sheets and they fit comfortably in the cup case which is lined bottom and sides with cardboard. I covered it all with small bubble wrap before zipping it closed. These storage containers are designed to protect porcelain from dust and minor bumps. They are not meant to be the sole protection for a cross country move.

Functional
I was a little disappointed in the quality . Price was fair for this item. Color good.

Poor quality
I did not like the material, not matching zippers ( it’s white for red case) and the plastic to put between plates is much smaller then the plane size. The size of the storage is too small. Most likely will return.We liked the color

Nice for the price!
I had to buy 2 sets to accommodate a small set of my grandmother’s dishes that I am saving for a granddaughter. It seems that older sets had more pieces per placesetting — dinner plates, round salad plates, square salad plates, soup bowls, sauce dishes, bread and butter plates , cups, saucers. These covers are nice and large, not tight like some sets. The padded vinyl exterior is a good surface to attach my labels. The price was good.

These are quite thin and compressed, so when opening I thought I was missing pieces, but they were only stuck together.

On the THIN side. If I were to purchase this type of product again, I would have splurged for the better, more quilted and supported set. My grandmother’s china from 1939 deserves/requires better.
