The **Kaffe Handheld Manual Coffee Grinder** with **adjustable coarseness settings** and a **stainless steel conical burr** design is a fantastic choice for coffee lovers who enjoy fresh, ground coffee on the go. Whether you’re camping, traveling, or simply enjoying a quiet morning at home, this grinder offers a great balance of convenience, durability, and performance. Here’s a detailed review of its features based on user experiences and its specifications:### Pros:1. **Stainless Steel Conical Burr**: – The **stainless steel conical burrs** are a key feature of this grinder. Burr grinders provide a **consistent grind size** which is crucial for making a great cup of coffee, especially if you’re particular about brew methods like pour-over or French press. The conical burr design also minimizes heat buildup during grinding, ensuring that the coffee’s flavor remains intact.2. **Adjustable Coarseness Settings**: – The **adjustable coarseness settings** are easy to use and allow you to select the perfect grind for different brewing methods. Whether you prefer a fine grind for espresso or a coarser grind for French press or cold brew, this grinder offers a wide range of settings that can be quickly adjusted to your preference.3. **Portable and Compact**: – This manual grinder is **compact and lightweight**, making it ideal for travel or camping. It’s easy to pack in a bag, and because it doesn’t require electricity, it’s perfect for outdoor use or when you’re staying in places without convenient power sources.4. **Silent Operation**: – One of the standout features of this grinder is its **silent operation**. Unlike electric grinders, which can be loud and disruptive, this manual grinder operates quietly, making it an excellent option for early mornings or when you don’t want to wake others up. It’s also more considerate when camping in quiet nature settings.5. **Dismountable for Easy Cleaning**: – The grinder is designed to be **dismountable**, which makes it easy to clean after each use. The detachable parts allow you to thoroughly clean the burrs and other components to prevent coffee oils and grounds from building up, ensuring a longer lifespan and better-tasting coffee.6. **Durable Construction**: – Made from **high-quality stainless steel**, the grinder is built to last. It’s durable enough to withstand the wear and tear of frequent use, whether you’re at home or traveling. The sturdy design feels premium and gives the user confidence that it will hold up for years of use.### Cons:1. **Manual Grinding Effort**: – As with most manual grinders, the **grinding process can be more labor-intensive** than using an electric grinder. While it’s a great workout for your arm, it may take longer, especially if you’re grinding a larger batch of coffee. For those who prefer convenience and speed, this might be a downside.2. **Capacity**: – The **capacity** of the grinder is somewhat limited compared to larger electric grinders. While it’s perfect for one or two cups of coffee, you may need to grind in batches if you’re making larger amounts of coffee, which could be time-consuming.3. **Potential for Slippage**: – Some users have noted that the grinder’s **handle can slip** a bit while grinding if you’re not holding it steadily. This is something to be mindful of, particularly if you’re grinding on a smooth surface. It might take a little getting used to in terms of grip and stability.4. **Slightly Slow Grinding**: – While the grind quality is excellent, some users have found that the process can be a bit slower compared to electric grinders, especially if you’re grinding for a coarser brew like French press. It might take a few minutes to grind enough coffee for multiple cups, so patience is key.### Conclusion:The **Kaffe Handheld Manual Coffee Grinder** is an excellent choice for anyone who values freshly ground coffee and is looking for a portable, durable, and easy-to-use grinder. The **stainless steel conical burrs**, **adjustable coarseness settings**, and **silent operation** make it a standout option for campers, travelers, or anyone seeking a quiet, hands-on coffee-making experience. Additionally, the **dismountable design for easy cleaning** ensures that your grinder remains in top condition over time. While the manual effort involved may not be ideal for everyone, the quality of the grind, portability, and overall construction make it a solid investment for coffee enthusiasts who enjoy taking their coffee routine on the go. If you’re looking for a **compact, reliable, and efficient manual grinder**, the Kaffe grinder is a fantastic option.

This little coffee grinder is all metal and extremely well made. Fit and finish is top notch and it has a real hardwood handle, no plastic here!I got this because I use a French Press and that requires a coarse grind. At first the instructions were a little confusing, the adjuster has numbers and “coarse-fine”, but they don’t match to the instructions. Here is what I think they mean:They say for expresso: 8-12 “grids” , French press 25-30 “grids” etc.(Grids? What are grids????)I count a “Grid” as one click of turning the adjustment dial.So I tightened the dial clockwise (finer) until it stopped and I couldn’t move the handle (don’t force it!!!) Make sure you are at this lockup point. That is “zero grids”, do not use it below 7 grids.I then turned it counter clockwise counting each click until I got to 25 clicks (aka 25 grids) for the coarse french press grind. I added some beans and presto, grinding was quick and effortless. I finally settled on “30 grids” as I wanted a little coarser. I find as you go above 30, the grinds become more inconsistent in size, this is normal, not a flaw. Now that I have it figured out, I’m really happy with it, it is far superior to the electric blade type I was using, it has a much more consistent grind.Like I had mentioned, operation is very smooth and effortless and it is built rock solid. The capacity is about 5 tablespoons and I ground that up at 25 grids in less than a minute. As well as this is made, I am confident I will never need to replace it.A++++++ on the Kaffe handheld coffee grinder!

I really like the hand grinder, especially for the price. Compared to more expensive grinders that this is attempting to compete with, there are a few places where it falls short, but also a couple of places that the design is even better than these more expensive grinders. Overall, I can say that I recommend this grinder, especially for a person just getting in to specialty coffee.First, the grind consistency was pretty good. I didn’t do any particle size evaluation, this is just evaluated by taste after brewing coffee from this grinder. Hand grinders are great because you can get much better grind consistency for the price as compared to electric hand grinders since you’re not paying for the a larger device with a motor, etc. I would put the output of this against a $200+ electric grinderIt has a pentagonal stainless steel conical burr that allows for super easy use, grinds quickly, and it is capable of grinding coffee for both espresso and drip/pour over.I really like the fact that it is designed to be disassembled easily for cleaning and has instructions to do so. There’s even the ability to remove the ring burr, not just the cone.My biggest complaints are around the grinder are mostly around the burr adjustment system. First, everything is all-metal construction, which is great. But the adjustment knob and plate seem to be either chrome or nickel-coated, which makes me wonder about longevity if the coating wears off and if that is getting into the grounds over time. It also gives it a bit of a less premium feel. Also, the scale on the burr adjustment goes from 0-12, but you can go around the scale multiple times, so you have to keep track of where you are past 12. For example, a setting of 16 would be 4, but past the 12 one time. This is fine, and common, but something to note. The setting at burr touch is not 0. Out of the box, it was around 8, so the first few usable settings were below 0. After I disassembled the grinder to inspect the burrs and reassembled, the setting at burr touch was 2, which just so happens to be about 180 degrees from each other. According to the instruction sheet, settings 0-6 should not be used. This makes more sense if burr touch is 2 rather than 8. Also, after reassembly and the burr touch setting changing, the suggested grind settings in the instructions made more sense. I brewed a cup of coffee at setting 18 (finest setting for pour over) before and after disassembly. The one before was too course and under-extracted, which is not ideal for the finest suggested setting. After reassembly, setting 18 was a bit too fine and over-extracted, which would be expected for the finest suggested setting. It was good, but just a bit too fine. So I like the settings where they are now better than they were out of the box.Overall, it seems to be solid and sturdy and constructed well. The body of the grinder and the handle are both comfortable to hold and use. I am a fan and will continue to keep this grinder in my arsenal for routine use.
