I am very pleased with this Tea Chest
I am very pleased with this Tea Chest, but will tell you that I did not order it for that purpose. I can see where the compartments may be a little small for tea bags in individual packages. I use the box for my assortment of crystals. The box itself is nicely finished, is solid, and appears to be constructed well. The wood grain is quite nice. The lid stays open when opened. Overall, it is a very nice natural wood box with even compartments that suits my needs perfectly!

Arrived damaged – TWICE!!! – Box should have more padding
While it is pretty, and the 10 Compartment XL size does appear to fit tea bags (vs the feedback from others on the regular 10 compartment size), it arrived damaged. The side was likely impacted during transport as it did not arrive in a separate Amazon box … only 1 thin piece of tissue and super thin cardboard. The corner is missing wood where the nail split out – otherwise I’d simply repair with wood glue. I shouldn’t have to go to the extent of wood filler, sanding, and touch up stain on a brand new item.Will be returning with the HOPE that Amazon will put this in ANOTHER OUTER BOX WITH PADDING instead of shipping directly in item box. It’s pretty, but as a gift, totally unacceptable. Very disappointing on Christmas morning… ðUPDATE: So I returned the first one and specifically contacted Amazon to notify them of the poor packaging and a note was made next to my order. However, the 2nd one arrived AGAIN without proper padding, in the regular product thin cardboard and only 1 tissue paper inside – and the box was pierced/damaged from transit.Additionally, the wooden box was flawed – a big spot missing that appeared to be sap area (?) and the front warped. I was hoping for so much more. Finally, after filling the box with teas (thinking I might was well keep it …) I was further dismayed to see that the lid does not properly close. Even 1/4 inch more height would likely have been enough …At this point, I am so frustrated as this was to be a gift. With the cheap black hinges, the lack of quality control of the wood, warped/damaged product and the inability of Amazon to even follow shipping instructions, I am giving up.What a waste of time and resources – 2 boxes damaged and returned. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS!!! I would think the seller could be notified … with a little more thought on size and delivery, this could have been amazing … but is just a DISAPPOINTMTNT. So sad.

Gorgeous Box
Good solid box, made very well. Perfect for 10 coffee pods. I did notice, the lid when open, has gorgeous wood, I would have thought the wood should have been placed on top, but either way a great, solid beautiful compartment box.

Tea Box
I really like the style of the box, but the individual compartments are just a smidgen small. The teabags have to sit slightly askew, which makes the lid not close completely.

Quality Issues / Design Issues… or it would have been great
The wood is pretty, but this item has a couple of deal breakers for me. First up is fit and finish: the lid doesn’t properly close even when empty. Further, the whole box is so warped that it will not sit flat on a table, but rocks significantly. Second is design: if you store the tea bags vertically for easy access the lid won’t close. They didn’t plan for that clearance. If you store them flat they will fit, but they’ll be challenging to remove, as they fit snugly. You can just only put in 6 bags and lean them, but it is meant to be a storage box- not just a presentation box. So, that’s a fail in my view. If this were $22, perhaps forgivable, but at $54 it is a return.

Great Wood But Not Enough Room
Ironwood Gourmet Acacia Wood Rectangle Tea ChestThe wood finish is very nice but I found that the compartments for tea bags are tight. A regular Bigelow or Twinings individually wrapped tea bag will fit but it is a very tight squeeze. The lid will not close all the way if they are placed in the box standing straight up. Also, the chain broke as soon as I opened the box. All in all, the tea chest’s wood is very nice and the compartments many.

This box is the perfect size to organize my tea. I oiled the ironwood, which added a nice quality to the wood. The box is attractive and sturdy and now sits on my counter as an added attraction. AND, I have added space in my cupboard!
