Replaced OG Tamp
I have slowly been replacing elements of my Calphalon Temp IQ espresso maker, and the tamp was one of the things I replaced early on. I’d been looking at other options other than the initial one I bought, and this is so gorgeous with the wood grain, and the distributor (I think that’s what the wire brush thing is called). It has a good weight, but I’ve since stopped overtamping (or at least I suspect I was doing so), and the espresso tastes a LOT better. The wire distributor/brush helps me break up any grind that has sort of clustered together too.In order to keep it super beautiful, I’ve also been oiling it lightly with mineral oil, and polishing it, and that really seems to make the wood grain pop, which is just super pleasing to the eye.

– The temper is about 356 grams- The spring is not very tight, and you can feel if you are done temping or you need to put some extra pressure on the puck- Regarding size, it is almost the inner size of the portafilter basket, so it grinds on the basket wall a little bit- One issue is, only if you completely new, it doesnt have a guard,- so, when placing it on the basket, it sits on top of the puck, instead of the basket- It might a problem for the absolute beginners, but you will get used to it quickly due to the spring mechanism- So far, everything is good
