I got this due to the large water tank and making a full day’s worth of 8oz cups to keep me going. It works well and has the right buttons for the few thing you might change, love the ‘bold’ button. I did find the unit will put the whole coffee on your count top though. This seems to happen when using cheap Kpods that do not have the fiber filter bag inside to contain grounds and spices. It seems the apple cider, mocha and hot chocolate pods are cheap and no filter bag so they emit some contents out of the bottom thus plugging up the little hole in the main chamber that has the X grid things. Stuff hangs up and plugs this liquid exit and next pod you put in will not find the exit and fill the chamber to over flow. I will cut out that X thing so the hole is 1/4″ and won’t clog up with pod debris. Otherwise love the thing. Oh one more thing is the drip catcher is dumb? It’s an extension you put in for smaller mugs has some groves to ketch coffee leaking but has no holes to pass that liquid to a larger chamber, rater it fills up right away and slops all over too. This part could be redesigned to fix that. I drilled holes in it in the center and found a cup that fits inside and will hold several days of coffee drips, a great fix, I can empty into the sink. I will use my 3D-PLA printer to make a new proper part to hold drippings, easy enough…

Hamilton Beach has outdone themselves with this coffee maker. I have tried a hand full of others and they were fine. This maker is just better. The coffee tastes great and it doesn’t clog. It fills the cup up fast. If you are in the market for a single cup coffee maker, look no further.

If you fill up the coffee holder with ground powder to the maximum that you can add in, and use the minimum water option of 8 ounce and also the ‘Bold’ features together, the coffee is still too diluted, they should have added a 6 Oz option. By the way, it is not calibrated, the 14 Oz option will produce exactly 16 Oz of coffee into my measure cup. If you cannot inject accurate amount of water, why don’t you do 4 to 18 Oz to allow people to choose? Why don’t you make the ground coffee holder larger so people can add more coffee? Everyone’s taste is different, your design is not flexible

While you can use both methods, I prefer to use the pods in this. The trick is to make sure you match the proper level of water to the cup that you’ll use for either method. I like the bold setting. This will crank up your motor.

I almost didn’t buy this because I’m not a huge fan of the size. There’s no mistaking it. This thing is big, and it doesn’t look as nice as some other units on the market. This thing is like the size of Bigfoot’s lower leg. However, I am VERY happy with it. It just works. The easily removable needle is an awesome design for cleaning if clogged. I have a Keurig that requires major surgery just to get to the needles. It takes about 5 seconds to have this needle out and under running water. The reservoir is a decent size. It would be perfect if it held about 10 more ounces, but then again, it’s already a big coffee maker as I said.

Quit working too soon
Just quit working one day a bit after a year of occasional use. I kept the unit cleaned and followed directions. Would not purchase again because of short life span.

We bought the Hamilton Beach Gen 4 and love it! It’s easy to use, easy to clean and works great! The coffee is hot and tastes great, too! We use cold (from the fridge) bottled water. We rinse the pod holder after every use and make sure that there is nothing blocking the hole that the coffee comes out of and also rinse or carefully wipe off the top “needle” area if there are any grounds on it. We’ve had no problems with exploding pods or grounds in our coffee. We have used McCafe’ Premium roast decaf and Two Rivers Flavored decaf pods.
