Good consistent grind
My favorite coffee is a medium roast Sumatra sold at my local grocer in whole bean. Unfortunately, the store grinders get used for flavored coffee more than unflavored, so my rich, mellow Sumatra tastes like some awful vanilla pecan cimmamon french roast nonsense. Trashcan punch. I had previously owned the Cuisinart burr grinder for several years. It ground pretty well but was unbelievably loud and very messy. This Hamilton Beach grinder is surprisingly good given the very low price. A quick rundown. It is small– probably half the size of my old grinder. It sits neatly on the bar above my brewers in the space where I used to keep my k-cups. It is much quieter. It is still loud enough to startle the dog, but not loud enough that it wakes the whole house if I use it in the morning. The grind is very consistent. I’ve been using a fine setting (espresso) and there have been no bigger bits in the grind so far. It’s cleaner. Static cling and ground coffee still present a challenge, but coffee doesn’t explode from the cup when I open it like the Cuisinart did. Think “occasional cleanup” not “steel yourself for the mess” because you want fresh grounds. My pod machine died and I replaced it with the Hamilton Beach Scoop single serve drip machine. This grinder is a fantastic companion to that machine. I can make one GOOD cup at a time. With the price for the combination of the drip machine and the grinder below that of most of the other brand name grinders, this is a very good buy.

Worth every penny
It is really worth every penny grind coffee quite well my only complaint is you need to make sure the selection container is pushed all the way back or it makes a mess otherwise it is a very good machine.

Good match for Aeropress, NOT for French press. Probably not for espresso.
I said not for French press because the grind size is so random. Even at the coarsest setting it will put out plenty of fine particles that will go right through the screen on a French press. HOWEVER — my morning routine is to grind whole beans for Aeropress, which catches all particle in its filter paper disc. Perfectly acceptable for my application.PROS: It grinds quickly, and is much quieter than my previous electric grinder. The price was decent for the things it does well.CAUTION: Grind only Arabica beans. Robusta beans are physically larger, sometimes so large that the burrs can’t get a bite.CONS: The coarseness control is really a statement of good intentions, not a contract. That’s why any brewing method that requires closely controlled particle size will not like this grinder. The power cord length is really short, so unless you put the grinder on a shelf right next to an outlet, you’ll need an extension cord.

Uneven grind, bad design
Very disappointed with this Hamilton Beach grinder. I love my other Hamilton Beach appliances but in this case they put their brand on a common cheap imported grinder that you can find under many no-name brands. The hopper to hold the grinds is very difficult to insert and remove, and the grinder safety switch is poorly designed so it will start grinding when the hopper is not completely inserted. Even if it is completely inserted it makes a mess and some of the grounds end up outside the chamber. On top of that, the grind is very uneven – see the picture – this is set to the middle of the range for a drip grind. The grounds are not even at all and every time it spits out a big chunk of coffee that is dust like espresso grind.

Love it
After reading many reviews, I decided against the small cheaper ones. I took a chance on this one and itâs great! Maybe a little noisy but we donât mind, itâs doing its job perfectly. No mess and we love the different adjustment settings. The size is small and compact. Highly recommend

Messy but effective
I give this a C- for cheap plastic the grinds stick to causing a mess when you pour out the coffee. I always have to wash my hands and clean the counter. Hub gives it a C for excellent grinding. Itâs loud. It will wake you up in the morning. I like that lol

Grind Settings Donât Work!
I really love this coffee grinder! It has lots of nice features BUT it doesnât matter what grind setting I put it on, course or espresso, it grinds the same course grind! No difference in the grind of the beans at all! So now I have to use more coffee to make it the strength I like. Itâs too late for me to return it, so Iâll find another brand to purchase. I do not recommend this burr grinder.
