Nice, but problematic
My set of Hallops Wooden Bamboo Trays arrived in perfect condition, thankfully. There is no sign of any parts loose, or worse, already separated. Iâve used them for keeping on my lap while having tea or checking email on my tablet. The four sides of each tray feel fairly substantial, with the cut-out side areas for safe carrying, and where the Hallops brand is routed out or burned (not sure). I am not pleased, however, with the bottom part which is the entire base of the tray. From the moment I felt it, it has seemed to me to be some type of melamine, rather than actual bamboo. I donât see evidence of woodworking joinery to make the bottom, but it does appear to have a deftly repeating wood grain pattern across its width, just as inexpensive serving trays have always displayed. So, I have sincere personal doubt these trays are actually made as is implied on the Amazon sales page.I will be keeping these serving trays because they are useful and attractive, and are fully intact, but it is a disappointment. This is only my opinion from examining the trays upon receipt. I would like to give 3.5 âï¸ instead of 4, but thatâs not possible, so 4 it is.

Okay serving trays but with a some issues
I didn’t realize when purchasing these that they were two different sizes. That was entirely my fault since it clearly says in the description that they’re different; however, I thought they both looked the same in photos, so just wanted to note in case anyone else missed it. I wonder if that was on purpose to make them both look larger than they are? That said, it’s a positive that the trays nest inside one another for easier storage, so I didn’t mind the sizes being different. The wooden look of the trays is fine but are not anything fancy. They are lightweight which is good in terms of carrying things, but they don’t have a very sturdy/solid feel and therefore don’t feel as nice as my solid bamboo charcuterie board. They definitely felt cheaper to me than I was expecting, almost like the fake wood material of a bookcase you assemble yourself.I was really surprised that some of the edges are rough and not smoothly sanded down, including the interior of the handle cut outs. Those are narrow (even for my very small hands) and it doesn’t feel great that your knuckles make contact and scratch against the unfinished wood. I dislike that these are uncomfortable to carry, which is really their one intended purpose. What’s unusual is that despite one of the trays being described as “large” and the photos showing them holding multiple bowls, cups, etc. they are BOTH too narrow to even hold a regular sized dinner plate. I had in mind that these could be used to carry food out from the kitchen (ex: one dinner plate, utensils, and cup), used as a lap try with a plate on it while eating food on the couch, or even for breakfast in bed (which was implied from the pictures). You can technically balance a dinner plate on top between the raised edges but it’s precarious (rocks side to side)… therefore, you are kind of limited to using it for one small bowl or small dessert plate (plus small items like utensils, napkin, cups). Thankfully my shallow pasta bowls (kind of a cross between a bowl and plate) do fit, so I could always serve meals in those if we want to use the trays to eat in the living room. I do like that these can be placed on the arm of the sofa so your food/drink/whatever are within reach.I would’ve given 5 stars if these were a few inches wider and could fit a dinner plate, had any sharp/scratchy sides and edges smoothed out, and had wider handles to fit your hands more comfortably. The manufacturers may want to consider making these updates.

Beautiful
The Hallops Bamboo Serving Tray with Handles are very nice. I love all things bamboo because it is so clean and such a pretty wood. The trays are a really nice size and there are endless ways you can use them.

Disney Bounding!
My 9 year old wore it as a Disney-bounding Rapunzel at WDW! Was very lightweight and easy! Great for the price!

Definitely, poor quality!
The trays fell apart when I took them from the package! canât believe sides of the large and small trays fell apart easily. I should have read 1star reviews. So many customers have the same problem as mine. They definitely forgot glue them together.
