    Durable and Efficient Mill
This is a 150g electric grain mill grinder. The mill is relatively tall but pretty compact. When I measured it, it was just shy of 14 inches tall. It is made of stainless steel and is very durable. The latching system is sound. The mill comes with an extra set of blades and screws, as well as a brush for cleaning. The directions say not to use water to clean the mill and to brush extra debris from the container and blades.I was excited to see this item as I enjoy making my own flour from nuts, beans, corn, oats, and rice. I have never tried to grind my own wheat, but I might in the future. Additionally, as someone of Indo-Caribbean descent, I spend a lot of time in the kitchen grinding down spices with a mortar and pestle. While I don’t mind doing this, it isn’t always convenient and is tiresome when making larger meals. I feel that this will be a game changer when I don’t have the time or energy to hand grind my spices. To test the product out, I decided to grind down a cup of almonds. I have never used an electric mill before, so I decided to go about it cautiously. I placed about a cup of almonds into the canister. I turned on the machine in about 10-15-second spurts of time. The machine was loud but not louder than a blender, which I have used to grind flour in the past. The directions say to unplug the machine before opening the canister. Since there is no window to view the consistency of your flour, I did a lot of plugging and unplugging to check on the almonds. I did find this a bit inconvenient and would recommend that if they update this product to place some viewing window on it. When the flour reached the right consistency, I scooped it out. I noticed that there were still some chunks in there, so you might have to sift and regrind for larger batches. I also noticed that the canister heated up a bit, so if you are grinding for longer periods, just keep an eye out.Overall, I am pleased with the product and can see myself using it a few times weekly for cooking and baking. As I have not used an electric mill before, I don’t have a point of comparison, but I do think that the price is decent for the value of the product. It is well-made and durable and the extra blades are a nice touch.

    Simplistic but functional
This grain mill is pretty rudimentary, but it has the power to turn hard wheat to a fine dust pretty quickly. It seems to be well built and I think very durable. In fact it is a bit industrial feeling. It is rudimentary because there is no way to control how fine or coarse the flour comes out except to stop and open the mill periodically to check. I would certainly recommend spending a bit extra to get the larger capacity hopper. I have the 150g size. I added a cup of wheat, which almost filled the hopper, and turned the power on for about 20 seconds. The texture was coarse. After another 10 seconds or so the texture was more fine, but still contained a lot of particles the size of coarse ground corn meal. I tried sifting to see how much was fine powder versus coarse, but it was hard to effectively sift. I returned the flour to the mill and ground for another 10 or 15 seconds and most of the flour was finely ground. At that point I sifted and had perhaps 2 tablespoons of slightly coarse meal and the rest quite fine. I was happy with that mix.Aside from the lack of control over the resulting texture, this mill does heat up the wheat quite a bit. Even with relatively short bursts of 10 to 20 seconds I could feel the heat in the flour. My understanding is that the heat degrades the nutritional value and quality of the wheat. That does make me wonder if overheating would be more or less of a problem with a 550g hopper instead of the150g hopper.I used part of the home ground wheat mixed with bread flour in a 25/75 ratio to see how it would impact my dough and bread. I think the flavor of the bread was significantly improved. Several websites selling expensive stoneground wheat suggested increasing the hydration (1 extra tablespoon per cup of water) and so I did add a little extra water to my dough with no ill effects. The dough seemed to rise faster than normal which I love as the resting periods are the biggest deterrent to making bread for me. Hard to wait for long proofing periods when there are so many outside chores they need to be done. I don’t love store bought whole wheat bread because it is dry and coarse. Substituting even 25% of fresh ground flour in place of the store bought flours boosted the flavor of my bread significantly and did not make it dry and gritty. Considering the price of custom stoneground flours, this mill will pay for itself in savings very quickly. The only tricky part now is sourcing high quality wheat.

    Great compact grain mill.
Ever since I spent time with a family member helping her make homemade bread with freshly ground flour I have been wanting a grain mill. But they are so expensive and most of them I’ve seen would take up too much counter space in my small, galley style kitchen. So I was so happy to come across this petite, smart looking grain mill on Amazon. It’s footprint is so small, but the unit is still mighty. I made my first batch of einkorn wheat flour with it and was super impressed by how it turned out. You do have to keep checking in on it to make sure you stop at the grind level you want.Overall, this unit functions well and is not too much louder than the expensive one my family member has, I love the stainless steel, somewhat industrial look of the unit. It just feels sturdier than many of the plastic barrel type grinders I’ve seen. I am super excited to try out some other grains with it. Great item, especially for the price. Highly recommend!

Good as other professional grinders I used.
This is the perfect grain mill for when I am grinding enough flour for baking. I use grains like Quinoa and seeds and nuts and turn them into flour. I need to grind accurately in order to make the right flour from the right grain. This is surprisingly easy to clean. And can be used an all sorts of dry goods. This is as good as any of the other professional grinders I have used.
