    Goodbye, Tea Ball; Hello, Infuser!
GREAT INFUSER!!! I came from the “tea ball” experience, having seen my mom use the little egg shaped stainless tea ball that you kind of snap together, and then it has a chain that (hopefully) remains hanging outside of the cup. I was going to get another one of those (since I only have the one at work that I’ve had forever, and wanted one for home as well) and then I started seeing all these other designs. I researched a lot of the “tea ball” variations and many seemed to have complaints of leaks or being messy or having plastic or silicone parts, and I wanted just a stainless one, that wouldn’t leak, with easy clean up, and I thought the handles on this seemed a cool idea, along with the nifty “case” and overall clean design, so this is the one I ordered.Short story, it’s GREAT!!!Now, I’m not a big “loose tea” drinker — for me, I use teas in a bag, but there is a certain mix of tea where I like to add mulling spices, because it makes the greatest cup of tea ever (mixed with Ginger Lemon tea from Stash, and Ginger Pear White tea, Organic, from Trader Joes — a great base to add to, and a smashingly great cup of tea). So, I basically needed something to infuse my mulling spices into my tea, and this is terrific!I didn’t have any complaints using my old tea ball, really, except sometimes the chain falls into the boiling hot tea and I have to fish it out…plus it seems the connection between the two halves is starting to get loose, that holds the tea ball together, and this design seems like it would last forever, with no parts to fall apart, so to speak. This is super easy to use — fill it up with your teas (or in my case, my mulling spices), little handles fold out, sets perfectly in a standard or larger mug, fill the cup to the top, and you can even set the little “lid” from the case over the top, if you so choose, to keep in heat, although it’s not really needed since heat escapes anyway in an open mug or cup.Nothing leaks through into your tea, but keep in mind I’m using mulling spices, which are pretty big and don’t have “tea dust.” I did try some loose teas from my tea bags, just for an experiment, and even that fine of tea holds in pretty well. Some tea dust did get through, but very little. The holes are quite tiny on this and the same tiny size of holes are on the bottom as on the sides. Not sure what a totally loose tea would do, but works perfect for my needs, and I think, since it can even hold in tea already in a bag, I’m thinking it would do just fine with loose teas basically made to be infused. In a standard cup, it does take up a fair bit of room, but there is still room for tea bags on either side, or beneath, since it doesn’t reach all the way down to the bottom of the cup, nor does it take up the whole center. For me, I use two tea bags, plus my mulling spices, so I put one bag on each side and the infuser sits fine in the center of the cup, not mashing the bags at all.Clean up is terrific — better than the tea ball, actually. Just tap it out into the trash and then rinse it, and you’re done!Oh, and the handles do not get hot — you can lift it right from the cup, and even park it on the provided lid, for zero mess, while you add whatever else to your tea, then, like I say, easy to just tap out the contents and give it a rinse.Very well built — solid construction. Looks like it will last a lifetime. And, for travel, the case is sturdy — fold down the handles, set it on the lid, and the top clear cover goes down, twists to lock, and you can toss it in with your other stuff, if you want to take your infuser on the road, or wherever you’re bound. For me, I bought a second one of these, and retired my old tea ball, so now I have one of these at work, and one at home.I’d say it does the same job, in terms of infusion, as the tea ball — I didn’t notice this being any different in terms of the flavor or quality of infusion, but, for me, it’s easier to clean up, seems more sturdy, and is large enough that, if I venture into the world of loose teas, it has much more space than the tea ball. Plus, the handy case, and the lid — points for not having to wipe up the counter or dirty up a saucer like using the old tea ball — and no more fishing trips to try to find a dropped tea ball chain, so, yup, I’m sold on this one!Looking forward to trying coffee in the one at home — I’ve read where folks use this to brew up a single cup, which would be great! Not sure if it will “flavor” the steel — so far I use the same filler every time, so I haven’t tried switching infusion contents. I can say the infuser keeps some of the smell of the mulling spices, so I don’t know if there would be flavor transfer for those who like to use different loose teas, but I would wager washing it between uses would be sufficient to avoid such.I’m very pleased with this purchase, and I highly recommend!

Great Infuser, love the carrying case, great quality and excellent performance
I did a lot of research on Tea Infusers, and I decided to get this one based on its features and reviews. I am really glad that I did. It works great! I’ve only used it twice. I can’t review the quality of this product after many uses or many years of usage yet.Let me start with the dimension of this product, since the mugs you plan on using this for probably vary in size:- The carrying case measures 2.75″ in height. The top diameter is 2 7/8″ and the bottom diameter (the gray lid) is 3 1/8″ in diameter.- The Infuser measures 2.75″ in diameter to include a 1/4″ rim (Top), 2″ in diameter (bottom) and 2.5″ in height- The infuser handles measure 1 3/8″ (short handle) and 2 1/8″ (long handle). with both handles extended out, the entire length is 5 7/8″.The carrying case secures the infuser very well. You don’t really have to worry about the infuser falling out of the carrying case when dropped, if you secure the gray lid onto the carrying case well. In the picture, the carrying case is displayed with the gray lid at the bottom. When the infuser is in used, you can put the infuser on the gray lid to catch dripping, or like me, I turn the clear case around and place the infuser in the clear case with the handles extended. It’s your personal preference in how you want to use this carrying case. If you don’t have a place to wash the leaves, you can turn the carrying case upside down, using the gray lid as a lid, and it will prevent any water/tea from dripping out of the carrying case. The infuser works very well. I used it in 2 similar size mugs, and both works perfectly. The mugs I used are very tall, about 4″ in height. I microwave the water in the mug, then I place the infuser with tea leaves in it. I shake the leaves in the infuser a little, then I use the gray lid on the carrying case as a lid on my mug while waiting for the tea to be read. The lid doesn’t cover the mug perfectly because of the extended handles. It sits over the infuser, and keeps the steam of the hot water in the mug. Once I removed the infuser, I keep the gray lid on the mug, and it fits perfectly on the mug opening. This slows the tea down a bit from getting cold. Because I use the gray lid as a mug lid, I use the clear part of the carrying case as the holder for the infuser. As for performance, the infuser works very well. The very small tea dust does fall through the infuser, but it is expected. Because I like my tea light to medium strength. I can make 2-3 or more cups of tea using the same tea leaves. I just leave the leaves in the infuser until I am ready to dispose it and wash the infuser. One thing I do not recommend is leaving the leaves in the infuser overnight, the leaves will stick to the infuser, making it difficult to wash. If you are going to do that, soak the infuser in water overnight, or just dump the leaves out and rinse it right away, which is a lot easier. As for portable, I have already provide the size of the carrying case above. If you have a purse, computer case, tote bag, etc… you can easier carry the case with you. You can even put the tea leaves you want to make tea with in the infuser. The infuser has to sit in the carrying case with the bottom on the gray lid. Because of it, although I haven’t tested it out, the leaves should stay in the infuser during transport.I highly recommend this infuser, and I love that it comes with a carrying case.

An excellent choice for loose-leaf on the go!
This was a second purchase of this infuser, so that I could have one at work and one at home. They travel well; I’ve taken one along on trips and to conferences, along with a small supply of my favorite silver needle white tea. The larger size allows hot water to circulate among the leaves, and the carrying case lid is designed to let you set the infuser in it to avoid making a mess. If you leave the tea sitting in it too long, they may stick to the sides a bit, but no more so than any other similar instrument, and a short soak loosens them back up again. An excellent design, very sturdy, small enough to slip into a purse but big enough for proper steeping!

One of the best things I’ve ever purchased
This product is perfect for what I wanted it for – transporting and making loose-leaf tea wherever I go. I’ll put a few teaspoons of whatever tea I want in the infuser in the morning and then simply throw the whole thing in my bag before I leave for the day. The infuser top is flush with the carrying case lid and keeps the tea from getting everywhere inside the case, much less inside your bag. The top screws on tightly and seems quite sturdy – I’ve thrown it into my work bag with my laptop and wallet and everything else i need for the day and it shows almost no wear or tear. The little holder for the infuser is perfect and totally gets rid of any mess involved in making the tea. The handles fit every cup and mug I’ve used it with and the mesh is fine enough that I don’t have any problem with the leaves “escaping” into the tea. I love this so much that I’ve told all my tea-loving friends about it. I’m thinking about getting another one just to leave in my desk at work and keeping one in my bag at all times just in case of a tea emergency. I cannot recommend this product enough.

LOVE it….handles the small stuff…handles the big stuff. Of course, as with anything with any holes in it, superfine stuff will get through…but that is to be expected. Give up on the cutesy tea balls and strainers…this is the way to go!
