This is one of those things you don’t need… but want. Having just taken delivery of a new espresso machine – my first in years, since my last one broke, and they’re expensive – I’ve been in coffee heaven again; and, let’s face it, it’s much simpler just to bung some grounds into a cafetiere, so you need to make the most of all of the faffing and fiddling which surrounds any good tea or coffee ceremony.Yes, the plastic measuring spoon-cum-tamper which came with the machine does the job perfectly well; and yes, the paper filters I got for free from Vine to top off the grounds work excellently; but the lovely metal spoon/tamper and metal filter in this set just look so, so, so much nicer when the machine isn’t actually making coffee. (They do work, too, don’t fret).I doubt I’ll use the little coffee grounds stirrer, not least because the fit of the prongs into the little case is too tight and so it’s a fiddle; but I will definitely be using the funnel-ring thingy (sorry, the words fail me, but basically it sits over the coffee holder and makes it easier to fill without spilling grounds all over the counter top, thus saving your marriage) and I do like the way the whole lot looks and feels.All in all, unnecessary but nice, and once you’ve persuaded yourself to buy it you’ll be pleased you did, even if your wife rolls her eyes and says “hmph”.

This set looks exactly as described.I’m lazy so I thought I won’t do all the steps using all these tools every day, but I have done it properly for 2 days now and wow, the coffee really tastes noticeably better. Stronger, smoother, more full. Really remarkable.So I put the funnel type attachment on which fits my old De Longhi espresso basket thing well and makes it much easier to get the expresso in the basket without spilling. But the tamper supplied does not fit inside the funnel, it is too big, so it only depresses the coffee a little and then when your remove it, the coffee is still too high so you get mess then. So you need to tamper the coffee again without the funnel. I used the pricker needles thinking this won’t make a difference to the taste as my coffee isn’t clumpy, but did it anyway. I don’t know if it helped but the coffee did taste much better so maybe it does help. I then used the tamper again to make it all flat.I then put the filter on top and made the coffee.With the filter, there was much less and slower flow of expresso coming out of the machine. I was worried that this would negatively affect the taste. But as said, the coffee tasted much better. Stronger and all the flavour really perfect.The other thing is the handle on the spoon and tamper is very long. This means I can’t leave it inside my tin of expresso coffee which is what I usually do. I would prefer a shorter handle for this reason.But for the taste, I will definitely use this every day. I won’t use the little brush as this just flicks the dry coffee around.Excellent tools for better coffee. My favourite bits are the funnel to make filling easier, and the filter which I think slows down the coffee making which is likely making the taste so much better.Also think this is a good value kit for everything you are getting at Â£12.99 currently.Hope that helps!

Got this mainly for the dosing funnel which I was extremely pleased with but the overall set is just great.Well made and great quality items essential for your coffee station.The dosing funnel has little magnets on that holds to your porta filter really well and also fits in my electric coffee grinder with no issues.The funnel does a good job of preventing any grinded coffee from overflowing your porta filter so prevents you losing some and having to clean it up.The filter puck is a nice thickness unlike some flimsy thin ones I’ve had in the past, the stirrer is a nice looking item which unscrews to reveal the thin points and again does a good job of distributing your coffee grounds.You also get a nice little soft bristle brush and scoop/tamper, again good quality and works well.Currently priced at Â£11.59 I am more than happy with this set and absolutely recommend it ððððð

The kit comes in an ok box but if this was a gift, it would be nicer to supply it in a better box with foam cut-out inserts to display the items nicely.The funnel is very good for preventing spills when putting the coffee in, but the supplied brush is a bit of a gimmick I think – it seemed to make more mess than it saved.The measure and tamper tool is a well-made one-piece item that has a nice feel to it and collects the coffee well from the pot, and the tamper tool works well to flatten the coffee – but the funnel needs to be removed prior to this.The needle tool is something I have not used before and is meant to get rid of clumps and allow more air into the coffee. Iâm not sure on the value of this as you tamp the coffee afterwards?The disc that is then placed on top fits well and prevents coffee grounds from touching the delivery /output area where the hot water comes out.This works fine, but it creates another thing to rinse off – so if you want the easiest job, this is not for you, but if you like the full barista experience, this is definitely a kit that will help you get the best coffee experience.Five stars as it does exactly what it promises.

Didn’t know I needed these
I am known in my family as having a, well, coffee problem haha. I mostly drink espresso straight, and I make a lot of it. But, all this time, I have never added any extra tools. After 2 months testing these out, I do notice a difference! My espresso pulls are much smoother and more consistent that without using them. This set also matched my tamper and tamping box, which matched some wood in my kitchen. So, not only are useful but they look nice! Definitely recommend.

Nice set
The temper spoon is my favorite. I even use this to measure coffee grounds for pour over my weigh. It looks nice, very shiny and I like the shape of the spoon and the weight. Nice to have a multifunctional too that doesnât take up much space. The stair tools easy to use and still away nicely. All metal parts seem to be good material.
