Affordable and Effective
I liked that this was a compact and useful tool to add to my coffee station. Really – it protects my counter and itâs made really well (thick) too. I really donât think this hobby needs to be expensive and this was the most affordable option. Iâve used it for a few weeks now and itâs doing its job. It has held up to washing just fine too. Unless you love to spend money, this really is as fancy as this tool needs to be.

If your countertop has a bullnose or other rounded edge, the mat may not fit properly, leaving a gap between the counter edge and the mat’s right angle, which can affect its performance.Its dimensions are 4 15/16″ wide by 5 1/2″ long, with a front edge height of 1 1/4″. This size ensures it fits nicely on square edge countertops while offering ample space for your espresso tasks.Despite this, I find the Espresso Tamping Mat to be a great value for its durability and effectiveness. Itâs a solid choice for anyone looking to enhance their coffee-making area while keeping their countertop in top condition.

I had to rein it in a bit because it ran into the backsplash by 1/4″. No problem at all. Nice and quiet, too.

There should be a better solution
The portafilter doesnt sit on this right. Everyone just about uses a naked, or bottomless portafilter, so this is useless for that. If you need an edge to tamp on, there is a smaller $3 verion. I use neither and use the lip of my knockbox. works best for me.But the quality of the pad is nice and think and should last. SO I gave 3 stars. Can be useful for some, but better options, yet thick and well made.
