Works well next to espresso machine but is more versatile than that
I had never seen a Knock Box before but understand its function for coffee aficionados who are practically married to their espresso machine. Great Idea. However, I am a K-cup user AND I save my coffee grounds to be added to my compost bin for my vegetable garden. This knock box, knock bar, and silicone counter pad are very well made and appear ready to take my abuse. So, I use a knife to zip open my used K-cup, pulling back the metal foil top. Then I knock the open side of the K-cup on the knock bar. All the grounds go to the bottom and I throw the empty K-cup in the trash. This knock box looks like it could hold used grounds from about 15-20 K-cups before needing to emptied. Great tool and value. I mentioned another possible use and that is at my kitchen sink. I have a septic tank and use screens over my kitchen sink drains to capture large food particles before they can go down the drain. Those screens have to be knocked/emptied into the trash and unfortunately water drips on the floor. Now I can cleanly knock those food particles that are compost friendly into the same knock box with my coffee grounds headed for my compost bin. Value added.

Great way to clean up after espresso
Somewhat new to owning an espresso maker but I have realized the purpose and the need behind many of the accessories that are sold to go along with having a machine. The knock box is one that came a bit late. My niece has an espresso maker that has a Portafilter with an insert that does not stay in the frame when dumping. We had to fish her basket out of the trash multiple times. After she bought a knock box, I got used to using it and I needed one when I got back home from a visit. This makes things so easy and it is possible to really give the portafilter a good whack to knock the grinds out. Thankfully my portfilter has a notch and the basket doesnât fall out â¦anywhere when dumping the grounds. This set includes the tamping mat too and I like it very much. They are nicely made and easy to clean. I have used a thin bag when I didnât want to clean the knock box after. The bags are similar to the ones at the vegetable isle at the grocery store, to compare. Very enjoyable device, at $14.99 at the time of this review, I consider it a good value too.
