Like others have noted, the diffuser/plunger system doesn’t prevent coffee – in my case tea leafs from passing through. I have owned multiple cups with tea diffusers and this is one of the few I have had that allowed tea leafs to pass through. Everything else with this cup is spot on.

Now the levered seal has fallen off and does not flip open and closed any more. I would expect a better quality mechanism for the price and am extremely upset. I do not see a way to contact the seller so have to give a bad review because there will be no remedy for this problem leaving this very expensive travel press useless for the purpose I purchased it for. If the seller wants to contact me and remedy, I may be willing to amend this review. Other than the breakage it has been a good mug/press.

Good materials but I choose to give the mug a 1 star rating because the handle came dissasembled and the small curved piece that receive the handle screws was not glued to the body of the mug. Also, the small piece did not had the same curvature of the mug, so I had to cast it to shape carefully with a hammer. I managed to glue it to the mug, but the design of the piece and the handle does not allow to tighten the screws correctly. Thigtening the screws creates a force that ultimately causes the small piece to separate and therefore, has to be glued again. I will try to use it without the handle, but that’s not what I expected. I live in Panama so don’t ask me to return the mug because the two way courier is going to cost more than the mug. As a responsible company I could expect to receive another mug correctly assembled free of charge. As an engineer I can understand that sometimes one item from the production line can have defects and probably that single error does not reflect the quality of the company or the products.UPDATE: I was not able to notice it until I used it, but there is another problem (unfinished assembly again?). The piston and the filter does not lock in place and when you try to press down the piston only the piston goes down. In fact, it moves alone just with gravity without being able to press the coffe and defeats the purpose of the mug. I also noticed that the piece at the bottom of the mug (the one that locks the bottom compartment) shows an excess of glue, another sign of bad assembly. As I said before, it could be a manufacture single error, but for me It was a really bad experience.

My wife, a verified loose-leaf tea junkie, loves this mug (and it’s previous iterations), and I keep buying her replacements as they get lost/misplaced or break while she travels. This time, however, the replacement I bought her was delivered by Amazon with the handle detached from the body of the mug.As mentioned by another reviewer (from 2018!), the plate which the handle is screwed into is supposed to be attached to the mug via glue (really?) or maybe spot arc weld, but in this case it wasn’t attached to the mug.Returning for a replacement, hopefully the replacement will be okay.

I really wanted to like this! However, the coffee stays too hot! Have to wait almost an hour before you can drink it! I like my coffee hot but this didn’t work for me. Great system otherwise!

Poor design. Avoid buying – company unresponsive.
I was enjoying using this mug, it was a birthday gift from my wife, but the handle broke off after about 8 months of use. Tried to contact the company directly through their website to no avail. The mug is pretty hard to carry without the handle. The French press still works fine and I do still use it occasionally but it really needs to be more robust. I would avoid buying this until the company changes the design. As you can see in the pic I attached, the handle is basically glued on. Who glues metal to metal? At least solder or better, tack weld the handle on.
