Awesome machine – life changing!
Yes I know this may sound extreme but I am in love with this product. We have had an expresso machine for years but it was very messy. This machine makes some of the best coffee and it is simple to use and no messy clean up. The only downside is the fact that the panel is not as user friendly. You need to look up codes and which buttons to push in which order to program or interpret what certainly indicators mean. Also it would be handy to have a liner to the area where the coffee grounds empty so it is easier to clean. Currently some of the pucks break apart and are more moist which means I have to rinse the container and some grounds then go down the sink. Much less mess than my previous machine so not really a complaint but a suggestion. Maybe these do exist?I also love that the milk container is dishwasher friendly.

Excellent Machine
Setup was effortless. Makes great coffee. Occasional use of milk frothing is nice and clean up easy. Good value. Recommended.

Tedious and Needy all the time.
I’ve had this espresso machine since July of this year, and while the coffee is good, the machine is a pain. It goes through a tank full of water in a day (I only make two macchiatos’ with it daily. I had a Philips Saeco previously which did not need all the attention this Delonghi does. Every morning there is something it needs, water, the water tray emptied, a new water filter (even though it was replaced less than a month ago. Descaling is a problem with it also, I descaled it less than a month ago and the descale idiot light came on. It is an albatross hanging around my neck. I like to set my coffee machine up the night before so all I have to do is get the milk out of the refrigerator turn it on, set my drink, and come back later, not so easily done with this machine. I come back to find the drip tray needs emptying etc. I think I maybe going back to Starbucks in the morning and quit dealing with this thing as there is nothing convenient about this thing. Save your money or get a Philips Saeco. I am over this needy thing.

Easy to use
This machine was easy to set up and use to make a few different coffee drinks. The bean hopper for espresso and separate place to add grounds for coffee work great. I like how the milk frother works even though it does not allow me to add. There are ways to add flavor to a drink if you just use your imagination. The price was right for the features available on this model. It looks great and has been easy to clean.

Great coffee once you get the settings right.
This is my first automatic coffee machine. Well worth the time if you want good Lattes or just great tasting coffee. This is better coffee than my coffe pot by a mile. You need patencience as it only makes one cup at at time so the process can seem slow at times. All in all it’s a good machine. My only wish is that it held more water.

Simple and easy to use
My Jura broke and needed a replacement at a better price point. This DeLonghi lived up to the promise. It did what my Impressa could do and more. It works almost identically, with the exception of the Brew Group could not be taken apart for cleaning. This is not a regular user will attempt anyway. The frothing part was easy to use and clean. Great machine.

Noisy and Not Hot Enough
Let me start by saying read the quick start and in depth instructions before doing anything else.I am not a barista, I donât go to Starbucks and I donât know what half of the coffees there are. I do like a latte macchiato, cappuccino and regular coffee, and I donât like them with COLD milk or cream. That being said, here is my breakdown of pros and cons:Pros: Nice looking machine; good choices for coffee selections; easy to add whole beans or ground coffee; the water carafe can either be pulled out a bit to add water with a cup or it can be taken all the way out and added at the sink; packaged very well for shipping.Cons: It is VERY loud, no matter what feature you are using. It doesnât bother us because of a loud fan in our bedroom and earplugs, but if we have guests, they hear it. If you want a cup of coffee larger than 6 oz, you have to brew the coffee twice to get a decent size, and then itâs too big. If you want warm milk in a regular cup of coffee, you have to set up for a cappuccino, and then cancel after the milk has been released into the cup. And then you have to press the coffee button. This wastes the coffee that was ground for the cappuccino. It dumps the grounds and then grinds more for the regular coffee. We keep a cup nearby because when you turn it on or off or use the milk feature, itâs programmed to clean and water, coffee & milk will be dumped into the tray below. The coffee is also not very hot, even when not using milk or cream. Our Keurig makes hotter coffee. Weâve been using hot water out of our Keurig to warm our cups before we make the coffee from the DeLonghi (we could use the hot water feature on this machine, but we arenât using our Keurig for anything else at the moment and donât want the cappuccino machine to run out of water so soon).Bottom Line: It was an expensive piece of equipment and makes decent coffee, but I expected more with the main features – heat, size adjustment and using the milk option at random.

Really surprised!
We had a nicer rated, more expensive home expresso machine that died due to hard water and we couldnât keep it descaled. We had the warranty on it. Was able to buy this machine for less- the main draw was the auto function of grinding and making lattes. We are still trying to find the right bean for us but Iâm really happy with how easy it is to choose double or single expresso then press another button and add a cappuccino to the cup. Super easy and the unit lets you know when to empty the grounds, add water and clean the frother after each use. We are already planning on getting the next bigger version of this machine because we have been drinking so much coffee now. Go through a 2 lb bag in about 10 days. So far. This machine is worth more money than it cost for making nice quality expresso and cappuccino/latte- itâs all about the bean!

I had used my friendâs exact machine, over the summer while visiting her. Therefore, it was simple for me to set it up. But, had I not known the working of the machine before-hand, I think it would have been complicated to follow the hard copy directions. Be patient as you do it.The coffee is delicious. It is easy to make when all the parts are set up.It is quite a convenient size, even though it makes many different gourmet coffee options (or hot water). My cupboards are quite low since I have hidden lighting below them. So, I set up a coffee centre on a chest with a glass top, beside my counter. Now, it is very easy to access the top for the addition of the coffee beans.I purchased the machine with an automatic frother and it was worth the money. My husband likes lattes. I prefer black coffee. So, it suits us perfectly.I highly recommend this coffee machine.I wonder why I waited so long to buy a really expensive coffee machine?? We always get what we pay for. It is worth the dollars.

Always wished to have one full automatic espresso machine but beyond my budget until a good sales price showed up.Super happy with being so easy and coffee quality. Too early to comment about machine reliability though. Will update next year.

I canât say enough good things about this espresso machine.I am totally blown away by how delicious the coffee tastes. The machine operates quietly and requires no effort on the user. The milk comes out very frothy and delicious. I had wanted to purchase an espresso machine for a long time. Every time Iâd visit a friendâs house and they made me an espresso or americano I would wish I had my own machine. I researched automatic, semi-automatic, manual, etc. and decided on the Delonghi Magnifica Start because I thought it would be simple to us and as I had never owned a machine before, that was important.Ive had the machine now for a few months and I couldnât be more disappointed. I wake up and dread having a morning coffee (but need caffeine or the headache kicks in). Iâve tried tinkering with the settings: temperature, water amount, grind size, everything that you can control and nothing has come remotely close to what I would have at my friendâs houses. I have tried locally sourced, recently roasted coffee beans, lavazza and the like type beans, Iâve even tried cheap coffee beans and nothing seems to work.I tried reaching out directly to delonghi via their website chat to troubleshoot, and all they did was send me a pdf of the same booklet the machine came with.Having saved up for the machine and receiving some money from family as a gift to purchase, my biggest regret is giving this machine the benefit of the doubt and keeping it beyond the return window to try different beans and settings – hoping something would work out.Donât make my mistake – avoid this machine.

Love the ease of use. Itâs foolproof. Makes an AMAZING cappuccino and all other coffee house drinks. The milk frothing is second to none. Love this machine and super easy to maintain. Like having my own Starbucks at home. Highly recommend.
