The Importance of Marks on Porcelain Products
Not too long ago, I had the experience of buying the DeâLonghi porcelain espresso set. I was thrilled to receive it as I had been looking forward to using it for some time. The product was advertised to be made in Italy, which made me more excited; I even shared the news with a friend. However, to my dismay, upon receiving the espresso set, I noticed it was made in China, which was unexpected. While the product’s origin wouldn’t ordinarily be a concern, it would have been helpful to have been informed of this earlier and to have the manufacturer’s mark displayed on the porcelain coffee set.The mark on cups or saucers should have indicated they were made in Italy or China but were unavailable.I just wanted to share this little mix-up with fellow coffee enthusiasts!Any porcelain factory usually has marks on the back of their products, including the manufacturer’s name or logo, the pattern or design name, and sometimes the country of origin or date of production. These marks are vital in determining the authenticity and value of the piece. If a cup or saucer has no markings, it could indicate that it is not genuine porcelain or a lower-quality piece. Therefore, it is advisable to look for and note the markings on the back of any porcelain item to ensure its authenticity and quality. I was disappointed and concerned that the product I received might not be as authentic as advertised, and some even raised questions about its authenticity. The DeâLonghi espresso set I received was too heavy to be made of porcelain. The weight of the cups and the uncertainty about their authenticity were significant factors in my overall experience with the espresso set. Additionally, the lack of acknowledgment or responsibility from the manufacturer regarding the productâs origin can be frustrating for consumers seeking transparency and authenticity. As a coffee lover, I value products that are true to their origins, and I believe I received an imitation.I visited DeâLonghiâs website, searching for information about genuine DeâLonghi porcelain products made in Italy. However, I discovered they specialize in making espresso machines and other kitchen appliances, not porcelain products like dinner plates or coffee cups. I noticed the coffee set’s packaging had the name Tognana on it, which is a well-known company that has been making porcelain products in Italy since 1775. I searched Tognana’s website for any porcelain products branded with DeâLonghi, but the search returned no results. The confusion surrounding the origin of the DeâLonghi espresso coffee set raises questions about its authenticity. It is not pleasant to discover that a product advertised as made in Italy may not be genuine. Understanding the manufacturing processes and origins of the products we buy is essential for transparency and trust. After a cascading dissatisfaction, I found an authentic porcelain set of two espresso cups made and stamped by Apulum, a prestigious porcelain manufacturer in Romania since 1970. The cups are of high quality, and I am happy with my purchase.

Worth it
Great shape and handle feel, double insulated so it’s not hot to touch. Holds espresso size perfectly with a little space for creamer/foam/etc. Comes with saucers which completely elevates the espresso experience. Bought them to match our De-Longhi espresso machine. Couldn’t be happier with this choice.
