Does Not Hold Vacuum Seal
The vacuum seal worked as expected the first couple of days. After that the vacuum seal does not hold and I can not get a good vacuum seal again.

This review is for the PRETTIDECOR Stainless Steel Storage Container with Release Valve (1600 ml). I received a free taxable sample of this container in my search for airtight and vacuum storage that could help extend the freshness of my whole bean coffee.The container arrived in a plain thin cardboard box sealed with a decorative sticker. Inside the box was the container and instructions for use and care printed on brown paper. If you plan on gifting this container, I recommend gifting it outside of the box and in a gift bag with tissue paper (preferred) or wrapping the box in gift wrap.The 304 stainless steel body of the container is a single wall construction that weighs 296 grams and has a circular base of 5 5/8″. The body has a vertical height of 5 3/8″ and curves in about 3/8″ from the rim to an inner diameter of 5″. The accompanying lid is a mostly solid brown plastic construction with a few visible slightly opaque silicone pieces (circular sealing ring, valves) on the bottom and a couple of visible metallic pieces (release valve and push-button pump) on the top of the lid. The lid weighs 122 grams, measures 5 3/4″ in diameter and 3/4″ in height and has a valve apparatus set into the bottom that protrudes an extra 3/4″ beyond the bottom of the lid. The total height of the container is 5 3/4″ with the lid on.There is a nice look and feel to the container, and I like the neutral light beige matte color on the body with the dark (coffee) brown lid. Note that paint on the outside will chip as there is already a tiny scratch on the body near the lid such that the shiny underlying metal shows through. Also note that this container is noticeably bulkier than your standard 12 oz bag of freshly roasted whole bean coffee.In terms of use and functionality, the lid forms a fairly good seal when placed onto the container and it was easy to push the pump button to evacuate some of the air in the container. There were a couple of minor things I didn’t like about this pump system, the first being that there was no audible clicking indicator to indicate when the maximum or acceptable level had been reached. The only gauge for how much air had been removed from the container was that the height of the push button upon release gradually got closer and closer to the button, but never really reached the point where it couldn’t be pushed any more. The other dislike is for the perceived inefficiency of only pushing the button, with each push seemingly evacuating less air than before – it might be better to have put a grip or grooves for the fingers onto the button.My major disappointment with this container has been that the seal is not airtight. Less than 12 hours after creating what I thought was an airtight vacuum seal, I found I could push the pump button at least another 10 times, suggesting that a noticeable amount of air had leaked back into the container. The only other inconvenience has been a lifestyle one in that it’s not easy to store a 12 oz bag of beans inside the container. I like to keep my whole beans in the bag as an added storage measure, but I’ve had to cram the bag in sideways because the container isn’t tall enough for the bag to fit otherwise and also because the pump apparatus protrudes into the center of the container.All in all, I like the concept and look of this storage container, but I would recommend considering other options to provide airtight and vacuum storage for your whole coffee beans.
