    Tastes Great!
Make sure everything is sanitized and watch the wort while on the stove otherwise( what a mess ).Everything went great after a few lessons learned from the past. The end result was worth the wait.

    Very, Very Good!
Adding smokiness to a beer is a very delicate process. It can go from too little to taste to very overpowering quickly. In my humble opinion they got this one perfect. Just the right amount to impart a nice smokiness without tasting like you stirred it with a stick from the campfire. I’ve made this several times and will continue to do so again.

    Missing
My kit was missing the priming sugar.

The tester sample we had was pretty darn tasty
This is a well put together kit. Even included the bottle caps. We brewed this one two weeks ago – made it into a toasted coconut porter. It’s fermenting away in our basement as I type, and will be ready to do the secondary fermentation this weekend. I can’t wait to taste the finished product. The tester sample we had was pretty darn tasty!

    Tasty
Great kit! Recipe is popular with my friends too. Try dark room and dark brown sugar instead of bourbon!

It is a nice kit for the price
Let me start this review by stating that I am a beginner and still learning. I have done only 4 batches and have done some reading. It is a nice kit for the price. I’ve purchased this twice. However, it is not necessarily a 5 gallon recipe per se, although it is sold as one. The recipe tells you at the start to boil 2.5 gallons of water, which, if you pay attention to your “gravity”, you will never end up with 5 gallons by adding water prior to fermentation. When you top off with water at the end, it wreaks havoc with your gravity. The first time I followed the recipe to the “T” and ended up with 3.5 gallons and a much higher starting gravity than what is indicated on the paperwork. That being said, using the calculation, at the end of fermentation my ABV was in the 3% range (not near what was indicated) but the final product was very enjoyable. Also, it did take about 7-8weeks of bottle conditioning to get carbonation (not anywhere near 2 weeks).2nd batch – I started by boiling close to 4 gallons and ended up at the correct starting gravity after adding a little over a gallon of water going in to fermentation with 4 gallons, so better than the first. As BB states in many of it messages – Boil as much water to start with as you can. the recipe will work with a larger amount of wort to start.Either way, I think you will end up with an enjoyable product.

I have made about 7 beer kits. This one was the most work BUT by far the best kit I have made. The flavour is incredible and have had nothing but compliments on it. A made from scratch kit, (not just a bag of Wort) takes a few hours to make the Wort. But well worth the time. Just follow the instructions and get a BIG pot to cook it in. You will NOT be disappointed!
