Good basic burr coffee grinder
I decided I needed a burr coffee grinder to get a more even grind of my beans. Bodum is a brand I have always liked, so I chose this model after shopping around. I don’t think I would have gotten much more benefit from the more expensive one with the glass container. It’s not good for espresso, of course, but I’m not a big espresso drinker. There is static as others have noted, but it isn’t that bothersome to me. I have no trouble removing the container from its seating and putting it back in. It’s quite easy to set up and use, and grinds the beans just fine. It’s noisy, but no worse than my previous blade grinder. Recommended for people on a budget who want a good, basic burr grinder for pourover, press pot, or drop coffee.

This thing is a Hunk of Junk
I donât often leave a bad review, but this particular product stands out from the crowd by being so bad that I felt compelled to warn others. The grounds container does not fit properly and has extreme static cling. This results in spilled ground coffee, and a chute clogging problem that is impossible to clean. The hopper jams frequently and will not feed the beans into the machine, but once you remove it to clear the jam, then the beans go everywhere, counter floor, anywhere but through the grinder.The customer service number that Amazon provides, sends you to an automated line that tries to sell you Medicare equipment. Trying theâcontact usâ on their website gets you nothing except an automated email that says they will contact you shortly, I have been waiting 4 Days, I guess they have a different idea of shortly.Save your money, buy anything but this one.

Grounds Everywhere!
I love Bodum, the grinder I had was a beautiful design, simple & functional. Alas, it aged out & trying to save money, I got this one. Whaaa?? Bodum! You hurt my soul! Now I know why it was so much less expensive. It grinds well, but choosing the level of grind is far less intuitive. Getting the grind catcher into the base is like wrestling a gorilla (a small one). Itâs then a challenge to grab & pull out, and when one does, using the force of a mythical lumberjack, after struggling to grab the completely tight & flush sides, a Happy New Year spray of coffee flings onto the counter. The container shape is difficult to scoop from, and is plastic. Much static and more mess. If you have hands the size of frying pans, and the strength of Zeus, it might be doable.

Excelente molino! Lo que antes con el molino de mano me llevaba uno 5 minutos quizÃ¡s mÃ¡s, ahora en un santiamÃ©n lo logrÃ³ con una molienda rÃ¡pida, uniforme genial para uso casero en general yo la ocupo para una cafetera italiana y una prensa francesa y servir cafÃ© para 3 personas y es simplemente genial, nunca he tenido la necesidad de llevarla al lÃmite de molienda permitida en el manual ni nada de eso para la gente que somos en la casa, ademÃ¡s por ello la recomiendo definitivamente para uso casero.

LONG TERM REVIEWDon’t waste your money, within a year it barely grinds coffee and static electricity keeps the grinder constantly clogged as the ground coffee needs to go through a tiny hole. Following manufacturer cleaning guidelines in no way shape or form helped this grinder operate efficiently for a year…ORIGINAL REVIEWIt does a great job without all the bells and whistles. It grinds quickly and evenly. From fine Turkish coffee grind to a coarser filter grind it does a great job.The plastic container naturally provides you with plenty of static electricity, you do get a bit of coffee dust on the counter but not a deal breaker. You get a good quality grinder at an affordable price. Excellent value for the money.

Replaced a previous Bodum Burr coffee grinder after over 10 years of use. It was still functional but the start button was starting to have problems. The new grinder has changed a bit..for the better: better bin for the ground coffee and better start/ stop button. So far (about a month) it’s working great.

La calidad de la molienda es buena y uniforme.Recomendable para cantidades pequeÃ±as de cafÃ©, mÃ¡ximo 400 gramos y no mÃ¡s de 5 minutos por cada molienda.De uso sencillo y sin ajustes profesionales.El molido va de grueso (para prensa francesa) con 12 ajustes hasta molido para espresso. No tiene molido extra fino (tipo talco) para cafÃ© turco.Las marcas donde indica el nivel de molido no son muy visibles pero, con la prÃ¡ctica te acostumbras a su empleo.El manual tiene muy pocas indicaciones; bÃ¡sicamente, son medidas de seguridad.Luce muy sencilla, casi de juguete pero, que no te engaÃ±e, funciona de manera aceptable.DecidÃ no utilizar el recipiente para el cafÃ© ya molido, debido a que no sella de manera hermÃ©tica, dejando una apertura por donde puede tirarse el cafÃ© ya molido; en su lugar, coloco otro recipiente o vaso o el porta filtro de mi cafetera directamente.El acabado de la mÃ¡quina es de plÃ¡stico, asÃ como los recipientes. Hate this item. What maniac designed this thing? It spews grinds outside of the bottom and sides, creates ridiculous static and the shape of the receptacle means that most of the grinds spill anywhere but where you want them. I was expecting better of Bodum. Not cheap for the daily cleanup operation.

One problem after another
Bought this a few months ago, because my blade grinder just wasn’t getting the job done for espresso.Expected better of Bodum. I grant, my first grinder – a Krups – lasted something like 25 years, and that’s an unrealistic expectation these days. Still.Out of the box, it was clear the plastic catcher didn’t seat all the way into the opening as it should. I could see this in the photos of the product posted online – mine had about a 1-mm gap at the top, and the base sat out away from the body of the opening by able the same distance. Despite not being fully seated where it should go, the plastic catcher also was nigh impossible to remove. We had to use a thin bladed screwdriver to lever it out from the bottom. Naturally, when grinding, the ground coffee just spews out that top gap, so I took to holding a washcloth over the gap …… since I had to continually shake the grinder while it was running to get the beans to feed from the hopper into the burrs.The coarseness setting wheel cannot be turned by itself, at least not by me. I had to turn the hopper in order to adjust it, and the raised images for the settings aren’t easily seen, let alone understood. I had to use my phone camera and zoom in to see what the images are. Fine is represented by an espresso filter basket with handle. Medium is an image of this grinder. Coarse is the image of a French press. The three main settings are separated by dots, so it’s impossible to see which way you’re heading until you arrive at the next main setting on the wheel. Numbers would have been more helpful. A wheel an ordinary user of ordinary hand strength could turn would also be more helpful.The hopper. Ah, the hopper. To empty the hopper, you have to upend the entire machine over whatever you’re using to catch the contents. I’d suggest a large bowl. It’s easy to say “remove beans from hopper”. What that doesn’t make clear is, the bottom of the hopper is also likely to contain *some* ground coffee. And even inverting the machine over a container and tapping it doesn’t clear all that ground coffee until and unless you remove the hopper – whereupon you get a bunch of ground coffee spilling over your counter or work surface. The lid sort of snugs down into place, but don’t rely on that being sealed. A bump will dislodge it, and again you end up with grounds and beans all over.Today, the chute from the bottom of the burr mechanism into the plastic catcher completely clogged up with espresso grind coffee. Nothing seemed to be feeding from the hopper like before, so after a minute of grinding and seeing nothing building up in the catcher, I turned it off, unplugged it, and took the grinding mechanism apart. The whole thing, from the bottom of the chute to about half an inch into the hopper, was packed full of ground coffee. Packed. Took minutes to clear out the clogs from above and below, with a *lot* of mess. Fine ground coffee everywhere.The sum total information offered in the User Manual PDF on the Bodum site? “You can use a conical burr grinder for oily or flavoured coffees and it is not likely to clog like other kinds of grinder.” This is, shall we say, somewhat less than helpful or instructive. There’s no parts diagram, there’s no troubleshooting guide that covers my particular issue of a clogged chute. (The coffee beans? San Francisco Bay Coffee Rainforest Blend. Never had an issue with this before).Oh. And there’s no support link on their website, either. No troubleshooting instructions.I won’t be buying any Bodum products after this, unless I see some positive movement on my help request there. Worst $40 I’ve spent in a very long time. You’ve been warned.
