Great little espresso machine. Crema is fantastic from it and has pretty easy to use functionality. I do have issues with it being inconsistent with how long it takes to warm up. Sometimes it is ready to brew within 1-2 mins, other times it takes 10+ minutes and me starting to steam function for it to kick over to brew-ready. May be a malfunctioning unit, because Iâm not seeing that complaint elsewhere. Other than that, itâs an affordable, decent machine.

Amazing espresso machine
I love this espresso machine! I use it every day and it creates delicious lattes. It was little difficult to understand how to use the milk frother at first but once I figured it out, it was no big deal. My only issue was that there was a plastic smell and taste when I first began using it. My recommendation is to run the machine through with water by clicking on the double shot button. I did this until I could taste and smell the plastic.

Good Enough for Espresso at Home, but Not without Quirks
I obtained this BLACK+DECKER 15 Bar Espresso maker to use at home. I had been looking at more expensive and bigger espresso makers, but ultimately decided on this one due to its lower price tag and size. It’s very much a “beginner” espresso machine. The build quality feels cheap with all the plastic. None of that mattered to me so long as I could extract a decent cup of espresso. For the most part, this machine does just enough; the espresso I get has a good, slightly bitter flavor with a good amount of crema. The steam wand does a good job of frothing the milk.The cons of this particular machine are it doesn’t get the espresso hot enough, the steam wand is in an awkward spot with limited maneuverability, and it has major quirks that the instructions don’t really discuss. For instance, if you use the steam wand, you MUST purge the water line afterward by turning off the steam function and leaving the dial open. Water will eject in spurts until all lights flash, indicating the line is clean. Then, you turn the dial to close the line, at which point the lights will stop flashing and be ready for the next brew. If you don’t do this, then the next time you turn on the machine, the lights will pulse like it’s heating up, but it will never stop and you will have to unplug the machine to reset it.Overall, I would recommend this BLACK+DECKER espresso maker for casual at home “baristas” or if this is your first foray into making espressos at home. For more experienced espresso drinkers, you’ll probably want to go up at least one tier from this machine.

OK for a beginner like me
Iâm no barista for sure, but I enjoy an espresso or cappuccino so I jumped at the chance to try this.Itâs a basic machine especially in the plastic body but the other parts seem robust and decent quality (from what I can tell.) Thereâs a starter guide card youâll want to follow first and great helpful further instructions and tips inside a pamphlet. Thereâs also a 2 year limited warranty page as well.I happened to have a milk frothing pitcher already so Iâm glad for that. One is not included so thatâs something you may want to consider having although Iâm guessing a coffee cup would do ok enough or small glass measuring cup with a spout even better.Iâve made a couple cappuccinos and a double shot espresso so far and all were yummy. (The espresso was hot so be careful.) I may just get caffeine drunk practicing latte art one day hahaAll in all this is a nice entry level machine and does the trick for a newbie like me. Youâll want to have espresso sized mugs as the clearance under the brewer was too short to fit my standard sized coffee mugs. Thankfully I have some so I was ready to start brewing straight away. Thereâs a whole art to making cappuccino, lattes and espresso that involves many facets such as coffee ground coarseness, weight of grounds, packing etc that I really have no clue about but I was still able to make enjoyable hot drinks with this and Iâm sure over time Iâll get even better. Itâs going to be fun having this and I recommend as a more level entry option.

If you’re looking for a very nice, very affordable cappuccino maker, this is going to be the one you want. It works great and it’s a respectable brand name, Black+Decker. You can happily get your cappuccino fix every day without having to pay an arm and a leg from Starbucks. Of course, you have to make it yourself, so that’s the downside of having this machine rather than going out and buying it for someone else to make for you, but I think for the amount of savings you’ll get that you’ll accept having to make your own cappuccino every day.
