Excellent flow rate
Bought this to be used at hunting camp as I wanted something that would be relatively easy and quick to make coffee as opposed to a percolator pot. With a few minor tweaks it will make coffee quicker and produce a better cup of coffee. Did a test run and I was correct. It was faster and tastier than percolator coffee. I would recommend it ð.

Fits over my old Bunn 10 cup coffee pot.
Big Joe does fit over my old Bunn coffee pot. Not a perfect fit but it works. The diameter needs to be maybe 1/8th of an inch longer. I have a 10 cup coffee pot. I also ordered the Bunn 500 count 12 cup commercial coffee filters. They fit perfectly. The old filters I had bought at the grocery store were too small ( height not tall enough ) but they will still work. You will just spend a few more minutes pouring the hot water. Makes a great cup of coffee! Simplicity is best!

Simple, durable, portable, and easy to clean. Sometimes less really is more.
For many coffee addicts, finding the perfect coffeemaker is a lifelong struggle. Some try to skip all the interim steps by spending top dollar on a fancy machine, but sooner or later a machine is going to break (I remember visiting a coffee-snob buddy and seeing the wires poking from his $500 Italian contraption like a bomb defusing gone bad). Moreover, almost all of them are tied to a specific size vessel. Sure you can make only four cups in a twelve cup pot, but that just means the coffee will burn and sour faster.Others argue that a coffee press is the best solution, but with those the coffee cools too quickly and I can honestly say I have never used a press without ending up with some grounds in my coffee. Both are deal-killers for me. Your mileage may vary.Not here to claim Big Joe is the perfect solution for everyone, but it solves most of those problems by keeping it super simple and putting both the amount made and size container in your hands. Youâll need some filters (check the combo pack option), and if you plan on making more than a single mug, youâll need some sort of insulated carafe, but you canât beat Big Joe’s ease of cleaning and so far it smokes both my Grandmotherâs percolator and my drip machine for flavor. On top of all that, itâs portable and durable. As pictured here, it set me up right for a long day of wood splitting. Can’t wait to take it on my next camping trip!

This is a great product.
Update 05/19/2023–We have been using the Big Joe pour over for a few years now and we still like the way it works but we are starting to see the plastic degrade and break off on the fins inside the Big Joe, plus it is still just made of plastic which we try to avoid when possible especially with hot foods and liquids. So we bought a Bunn 20216.0000 Funnel Assembly made with Stainless Steel thinking it would replace the Big Joe plastic pour over. The stainless steel funnel does not work as well as the Big Joe but it does work. I wish Big Joe would come out with a stainless steel version. Big Joe has also got too expensive, up 50%, for a piece of plastic. We are keeping the plastic Big Joe as a back-up but the stainless steel funnel is now our go to pour over even though it doesn’t work quit as well. We believe that the stainless steel funnel is better for our health.Original Review–We had been using a coffee press for our coffee maker and we enjoyed it until we found out that press coffee can raise your cholesterol a little. Since I have a problem with my cholesterol, every little bit helps. The reason pour over coffee like the Big Joe makes is better for your cholesterol is because it uses a paper filter. There are lots of articles on the internet about the study that revealed the issue with press coffee and cholesterol. The reason I like the Big Joe better than other pour over coffee makers is it’s size. It will make the 48 oz of coffee my wife and I drink everyday with only one pour over and one filter. Most other pour over devices make significantly less coffee from each pour over. A few other tips; the BUNN 12-Cup Commercial Coffee Filters work great in Big Joe and are cheaper. I also use the Coffee Gator True Brew Coffee Gooseneck Kettle on my gas stove to boil the water and perform the pour over. But donât use the silicone insulation jacket that comes with the Gator on a gas stove, it might melt. The reason I chose the Gator is because it will boil enough water to make 48 oz of coffee in the Big Joe coffee maker.

Perfect for a small camper
This is some of the best money I have spent. We bought this for our cab-over camper which has very limited space, and my wife must have pour over coffee. Big Joe does the trick, we boil water in a pot and pour it through the coffee grounds in the filter into an insulated carafe. Hot morning coffee!Big Joe is the only pour over coffee maker I could find that makes more than a cup or two. Yes, it is a bit costy, but it does the job anywhere. If you find something better let me know.

Life changing for coffee snobs
Making an excellent cup of coffee doesn’t require expensive tech. Making a large batch of excellent coffee, until now, has been a different story though. It’s required an expensive drip machine or expensive chemex with expensive filters, etc. This product makes large batches of excellent coffee fast. I ordered 2 insulated glass carafes to go with it and make 2 liters of excellent coffee in no time that stay hot for hours. With the flat bottom bottom, the cup is very similar to what the Kalita Wave puts out. Can’t recommend this enough.
