Bought this to put under the coffee pot to catch spills. It is thin with a rubber backing that holds it in place and keeps it from buckling-lies flat. It is absorbent and water does not pool on the mat but disappears! I love the black with the gold swirls, it looks good on our white kitchen counter. I would have like the dimensions to be slightly larger, but this seemed to be the average size of this type of mat. The two pack was a plus and I took the other one to work for the same purpose.
